    That's great to hear, I hope to draw that bull tag again one day.....as far as Longtom crk, I'm not sure of that's the name, I know one of the trailhead was called Longtom...though most of my time has been spent in the West Pass Creek drainage

    I hope that the Elk herd has stabilized.....I would love to return to Sheep Crk, West Pass, and Longtom for another archery Elk hunt in the future....the country up there is just awesome.

    Has anyone elk hunted 36A-1 or 36A-2 recently? I've hunted near the East Fork of the Salmon River in the past, but have not made it back to that area in just under 15 years. I'm curious as to how the Elk herd is doing in recent years. I've heard that the wolves have pretty much wiped them off...

    Cache and Independence Peak are great areas to start. If you get weather (snow that is) then follow the snow line on Cache Mtn.....also the Jim Sage Mtn range is a great place to be when the deer start to move down. Spent a little time near the City of the Rocks, also some good bucks near...

    On average I find the deer around 5-6000 ft elevation, with a few places being over 7,000 ft. Both of my bucks came off of a secluded water hole that sets around 5,500 ft.

    I hunted 43 last year, passed 22 bucks before I killed my first buck, 155" 4x4, then passed another 3 bucks before I killed my second buck, and my personal best, a 178 3/8" 4x4. Pack up into Jumbo Mtn., and Trinity Mtn. Both are great places to kill giants. I've personally seen 4 bucks over...
