Youth deer 17 suggestions Trying to get my son his first deer. Hopefully this is the year. Hunted 2B last year with no luck. Any know what the deer population is like in the San Mateos? This is a late Nov-early Dec hunt. Thanks for any input

Finally Draw results are out in NM. My son drew unit 17 youth hunt at the end of NOV. I also drew unit 17 archery hunt JAN. 1-15. Any one hunt unit 17 before, if so any suggestions. It look like a lot of country. Thanks for any input.

Thanks for the advice. I had a buddy go up there for a muzzle hunt, he said there were quite a few does around. He also seen a few bucks, although he didn't get a clean shot and missed. Overall I was told the deer are in there. Just hoping to bag out.

Thanks for the input. I just hope to bag out and enjoy some nature. It looks like a big unit with a lot of ground to cover. Gonna try our look up towards the top.

That's encouraging to hear. Any suggestions on where to start or is it a lot of road hunting? I'm hoping to find a high point so we can glass.

Hello all, my son drew a youth hunt up in Unit 2B NM. The hunt is Oct. 17th. This is my first time up to this unit and my son's first deer tag. Anyone have any suggestions on where to go. Just looking to bag something/anything. Thanks for any input.
