I killed my first elk (spike bull) in 2008, I was shooting my dad’s Remington semi auto 270 win. I was shooting the 130 grain Sciroccos. I shot the elk at about 80 yards through the lungs, he went about 60 yards and fell over. Never thought I’d come across a thread discussing that round, it...
Open sight muzzy is my favorite, tags are easier to draw than rifle(sometimes easier than archery). I enjoy the fact that I need to get closer than with a rifle, but I have more range than a bow.
Never set foot in 21 or 22. Most people say there down, like all states across the west when it comes to mule deer. It’s a gamble in my opinion, 21 with the right weather could be good.

2nd rifle: 10/18-10/26
3rd rifle: 11/01-11/09
4th rifle: 11/12-11/16

When I started hunting Colorado unit 44 was the most overrated unit in Colorado! Now it’s the only unit that seems to consistently produce mature bucks. A lot has changed in the last 7 years……. With that said I’ll be after a tag this season!
Prc is better for hunting, especially if there’s a break on the barrel, the “extra recoil” is not noticeable in my experience. Overkill is under rated, prefect situations don’t exist when shooting at game. Ill take the faster round for hunting situations every time. With all that said practice...
