    Manitoba Bear Hunt Sept 2017

I just got offered a fall bear hunt over Labor Day in Manitoba and I am really looking forward to the trip. We are hunting with Trail End Camp and Outfitters. I have never bear hunted before and I was wondering if you guys had any tips for telling the differences between a boar and a sow? I...

    Wife's First Deer

My wife was able to take her first deer on Saturday morning with a rifle here in Nebraska. My friends and I had been seeing this all through bow season as he was a regular all over the property, he was very distinguishable with the white patches on his face. We named him Snowflake. He wasn't...

    rut activity

I live in Omaha, NE and at that time you should be pretty well into the rut. Bucks are just not getting big into scrapes and rubs, I'll be out this weekend and hoping the rattling will start to work here.

    First Elk

Got my first elk ever on Sunday. Saw a few bulls Saturday and Sunday morning but couldn't get up on any of them. Mid day Sunday we spotted a couple cows out in a field and the stalk was on. They were bedded in some tall grass and we couldn't see them once we reached the field. We set out...

    Idaho Transport Laws

I will be sure to do that, thanks for the information. I don't expect to run into one until the trip home when I am back on paved roads unless its at night heading to bars or something lol.

    Idaho Transport Laws

You can if you take it a commercial processor but not if you do it yourself they said. I suppose they are worried about somebody shoot a cow for meat and shooting a bull and just taking the antlers? Wanting to make sure that the sex of the meat matches what you said you shot. Thanks for the...

    Idaho Transport Laws

Called up the IDF&G, sounds like I can't process everything while I'm out there except the largest piece of meat still has to have the proof sex on it until I get to residence in NE. Another question, are the Wildlife Check stations that they set pretty well marked when you are passing one? I...

    Idaho Transport Laws

I did find something on that, if you take it to a commercial processor you are okay to transport without proof of sex. I do most of my own processing so I wouldn't fit under that unfortunately.

    Idaho Transport Laws

I have been reading the regs on this and I will be hauling my animals from Idaho back to NE. I had originally planned on completely processing my animals time permitting but after reading the laws I need to leave evidence of sex attached to the largest portion of the meat. Does this mean that...

    Mule Deer velvet

I'm headed to Idaho in a week for some mule deer hunting and I was wondering if they will still be in velvet? What time of year do they normally shed out? Most of the deer in NE shed out in the past week.

    Trying something new this year.

I recognize these pics from facebook, I think we know some of the same people. I have a group of friends that live in Blackfoot and I will be headed out that way in about a week for some elk and mule deer hunting

Pope and Young Mule Deer and Elk

I will be heading to Idaho in a couple weeks for a combination OTC mule deer and elk hunt. I would like to shoot both a Pope and Young mule deer and elk. Granted I don't know how closely I will stick to this as it will be my first elk hunt and first archery mule deer hunt. Does anybody have...

    sheep

Last year in Idaho I shot my mule deer buck within 500 yds of a sheep flock on the same piece of public ground. Also saw several does in the area too.
