You can build bonus points while applying & drawing general season tags. It's only $10/app so I'd definitely consider it. Some southern units to consider in the 3-4 point range for rifle: Beaver, Monroe, Mt. Dutton, Pine Valley, Boulder/Kaiparowitz, Southwest Desert, Zion 2-3 point units...

Bonus points are for LE hunts and you'll be waiting 10+ years for any of those. Preference points are for general season units. The rifle hunts can be drawn with 0-4 NR points in most cases. What are the boundaries for this tag?

The units I know best are Wasatch, Manti, and Fish Lake. All of them have lots of elk. Spike hunting is extremely difficult though. I'd guess you need to spend a week or more on one of the units. Pick a high glassing point where you can see for miles. Get there before light. Find the herds of...

They were perfect for the archery opener a couple weeks ago with temps around 70 during the day. Took them shooting in the valley and felt they were a little on the warm size once temps hit 80+.
