Montana has a a preference point system for the combo tags (deer/elk/big game combo) which is irrelevant if they undersubscribed . And a bonus point system elk/deer permits. There is a difference between the two.

You have to apply for the big game combo TAG first, which u will draw (don't bother paying 50 dollars for the preference point since they have leftovers every year). And then u will apply for a deer and elk PERMITS. These are under a bonus pint system. In order to build your points for these...

Thanks for the info. With this ranch being sold it could have a big impact on the archery elk hunting on the neigboring properties. Could go either way thou.
