Hey all,

Long shot here, but my sister has drawn the early rifle LE Wasatch tag. This is her first big game hunt and hasn’t been hunting much with others, just a few times here and there.

Looking to see if anyone knows of some private land owners that may sell trespass fees to potentially make it more of an enjoyable hunt for her. I’ve never done the private land route, so not sure where to go looking.

If we don’t find anything that works for her no worries, we’ll just hit the public land spots we know well. Thanks in advance!

I mean private land to hunt would be great, but not at all needed on the Wasatch to kill a good bull. There will be less hunters this year on the early rifle hunt, which should make it even better.

I would recommend hunting the areas you already know and save the money, but certainly can’t hurt to see if you can find some private land access.

Good luck on the hunt-should be fun!!

Agreed. I am just looking at all options for her. I’ve hunted and helped on many Wasatch tags over the past several years. A lot of the areas we hunt are a little more difficult to get into and I’m just not sure of her commitment on getting into those places.

The reduction in hunters will be nice and reduce some pressure in some of the easier to get to areas.

Thanks for the feedback. Should be a fun fall. I have a nephew with a muzzy wasatch tag to follow up the rifle hunt with as well.

Awesome-would love to hear how you do. My 14 year old son has the midseason Wasatch elk tag.

Awesome! Should be fun for your son and family. I’ll let ya know how we do.

Pretty sure your brother had a trail cam pic of a bull my brother killed way back in 2008 if my memory serves me right.

Ahh very cool-post up a pic of the bull if you have one.

Here is a pic of his bull. A little dark, but that left bez tine is what gave it away. Your brother posted a trail cam pic of it and I knew it was the bull my brother killed. So I asked your brother if he got the pic in a certain drainage. He confirmed he did.

Beautiful bull! I think I remember the trail pics of that one, but it has been awhile ?

If she can afford to hunt private land, why put in for an LE tag, just to turn around and pay to hunt private.? Theres plenty of easy CWMU hunts out there...

Options is all. Not too perplexing to figure out. Has a LE tag in her pocket and can hunt all the public land it has to offer. Maybe she wants access to private land if available and at the right price. I’d like to have those options if it were my tag as well (my finances don’t support that). Not specifically limited to a CWMU/private with a LE tag in the pocket.

I live in this unit and hunt it for deer and elk every year. I would never use money for private land hunting. There are so many areas to hunt. I took my 77 year old step dad on the mid season. We had a blast and saw plenty of elk. All public. Don't waste money on private access. You don't need it. The unit is so big.
