    New Idaho Laws

They already require you buy a license for the limited draw or to purchase a general season tag on Dec 1 when they go on sale for the following year.

    New Idaho Laws

About time, the current system has been broken/overwhelmed for about 5 years now. Bring on the NR general season draw, at least so you can apply with your family/hunting buddy.

    CO "assault weapons" ban

I put myself on restriction for the rest of year after my FFL called me yesterday wondering when I was going pick up a rifle. I literally forgot about it. It was a late night on gunbroker and I got sucked in then forgot.

    F250 vs 2500 silverado

The payload number on the Ranger Raptor is 1400 something pounds, same as the Gen 3 f150 Raptor. It is much better than I thought. That is about as much as you can stuff in that little truck, unless your starting with 4 dudes at 250lbs a pop. I can stuff my Gen3 Raptor with two weeks of...

TRW joint committee to take up preference to bonus point issue

Great I was about to loose my moose points this year but I guess I will keep them one more year to see how this shakes out. I do know looking at ID moose that lots of people jumped in there last year, the applications went way up in most areas it seems.

Thanks for posting this, need to go back and take a look at my app. I saw right away a few cuts that will make me re arrange my choices.

Might as well get this started

So glad I don't have to send out any help me PMs this year, I drew the same archery elk unit again ( both as 3rd choice )as 2022. I need to stop and buy some scratch offs this weekend for sure. At 3/4 percent odds I wonder what that would be on drawing 2 out of 3 years. The downside is that the...

    Idaho muzz changes

I really need four—- Without swapping a scope and aimpoint out for Utah now. Hey it is an excuse to buy more guns. I got carried away on gunbroker the other day and bought a new Marlin/Ruger 1894 44 mag for no real season, then I remembered the new S in HAMSS and it totally justified it. You...

    Idaho muzz changes

I found where the 209 primers/pellets/sabots bill was shot down ( HB 469 ). So what changed, anything? You can keep the tips on the pure lead Bor locks ? There was a post about any projectiles but no sabots. Does someone have some knowledge on this.

Elk guide recommendations with 10 NR points

If you have 10 this year, 11 next going into the draw you can look at how this higher fee impacted unit 7 later this year. It has been around 11/12pts the last couple of years I believe. Just looked it was 70 percent at 12 pts in reg and 20 percent in the special draw. You will be chasing that...

    2024 Fall Hunt Recommendations

I figured they would bump tags up some on the Kaibab and strip. They bumped a couple 5 and 10 tag adds nothing crazy. But the biggest addition was moving doe tags from 25 up to 60 on the Kaibab after them back from 100 to 25. Not sure about this but Iam sure the big burns and decent winters have...

    SOMEBODY'S IN TROUBLE!!!

Right most infrastructure is the world is safe as long as something weighing 220,000 tons does not ram into it. Do not worry fellow sheep everything is ok is what he is really saying. Things happen, it could have been much worse, say at 0800 in the morning.

    SOMEBODY'S IN TROUBLE!!!

This will be a major and LONG term setback, and they won't be able to have other container ships come until they pull the wreckage clear. I do not think there enough clearance in the other parts of the bridge. I cannot imagine what the traffic will be like, that area is a zoo anyway.

    Unit 551

Depending on what your looking for ( assuming 2nd or 2rd season ) you can road it fairly effectively. Or do short walks ( few hundred yards) to glassing points, reality is that is how 80 percent of people hunt no matter their physical condition anyway depending on where the deer are because it...

    Grizzly Bear Introduction

If it was up to the people with this great idea it would be a life sentence to shoot one. The wolves are already spreading very fast in WA, it does not get much attention however. I need some help picking a scope.

Look at Zeiss V4, for around a grand they are tough to beat. If I am spending more than that go straight to Nightforce. Zeiss v4 in the 4-16 44mm obj. Around 20 oz and all the scope you need- can mount it fairly low also.

Anyone wanna talk lead ballons? Do you have any in your collection? Any you want for your collection?

Some random info -- 35 whelen is an example of something that was on life support until a season/weapon type law changed. In MS a single shot of 35 caliber or greater is considered a "primitive weapon". So everyone started buying the longest range 35 they could find. This is why you can find 35...

Shooting sticks ( tripod ) or mounted bypod?

I usually carry one of the tall Bog pod tripods and use it sort of as a walking stick. I have a 9-13 inch pivoting Harris on the gun but only about 1 out of 4 or so situations allow that without wasting time and getting frustrated crap is in your way when you get down on the gun. Kneeling or...

Your Favorite Method of Hunting? (Poll)

I love elk in sept. This happens to be bow season, the interaction and close distances involved with rutting elk is second to none. I have only been lucky enough to draw Pronghorn in northern NV. Loved that hunt, so quiet and almost no vehicles once away from the main roads to mines. The wide open spaces and ability get away from people out there is what makes NV special. Going to expand my choices this year a little for...
