Hunting overall has changed dramatically over the last 25 years. We could go on and on about it. There was a time when it was just about hunting with family, friends, sitting around a campfire and being outdoors.

Archery hunts are far more enjoyable IMO.

It's unlikely you will draw AZ with 8 NR points but 6a has its pros and cons. Lots of elk but lots of hunters. Nearly impossible to get away from hunters especially north of Stoneman lake Rd. I'd say 2/3 of hunters are north of road and the rest are south of it. Very popular unit for RV's...

Everytime I go up there I try to do some varmint calling. On the early rifle hunt, head down into the low country for some dogs. From my experiences, very few deer hunters are down in that country on the early hunt.

That's right, I forgot they all moved north to unit 9. My bad.

I see more deer in unit 7 & 8 than I ever did in 10.

We had a really good soaking this morning in north Peoria. 1st moisture for us so far this summer.

Some parts of the state are getting a little, but this is turning out to be a dud for summer rains. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

States with points should follow the 80/20 rule. 80% random draw and 20% to max point holders. I like AZ's format considering we have less animals than most western states but we have an ever growing human population. 7.6 million now and expected to grow to 8.5 by 2030.
