Sorry just been busy working and haven’t really got on here. My son harvested a big body 3x4. The weather was rough which made travel a muddy mess. Didn’t see anything over 160. Landed up killing a buck he passed on open day. It was fun and a good experience for him.

Maybe I had to high of expectations but we are not seeing the number of bucks I thought we would be seeing. Allot of 2x2s and 3x3 and only 2 shooters but nothing over 150-160. The two shooters were spotted over a long range and tried to get in position for a shot and got busted both times.

Congratulations to your cousins and you can pretty much throw a rock in any direction and hit a deer. Just know where you are hunting and your unit boundaries.

I son was able to harvest his first big game animal this past weekend. He made a great 150 yard shot on a nice Mature doe Antelope.

I know a few that drew last year and didn’t go because of many reasons and I would safely say 90% were new to hunting. People think it is easy, cheap and a walk in the park and when they get out there it is a culture shock.

The over all numbers have declined and I would put my dads buck at 2 1/2-31/2 years old as it was a big body deer and was not a small 2x2. But you right, we passed up other small deer but settled on this one because it had a decent 2x2 frame and had a big body

Yea there are still some big ones out there but the number of deer and quality has gone down. Most of those big bucks come from the national Forest around LANL.

These two lady’s always give 110% on there hunts and it has paid off again this year. I got the ok to post pictures of there bucks just not with them in them. Lol
