I drew Unit 13 archery elk hunt in September. Never been in that area. Any suggestions on where to go would surely be appreciated. I'm thinking about West of Acoma Indian reservation.

No success here. Hunted 12 days. Seen some HUGE bucks, only two days we didn't see a buck. Closest I was able to stalk was about 80 yards away when he "winded" me. One day we made to atop Crow Mesa and that was after the snow came down. Spent most of hunt around Huerfano Peak/Angel Peak area...

Thanks for the update. That is where I wanted to hunt, Crow Mesa area. I guess I'll have to look elsewhere. Maybe the lower sage flats.

I get mine from MYTOPO.COM . You can order a specific area and "fine tune" it to your needs. Always "preview" where you set map print area and see if you need to adjust view. Great maps, can't go wrong. Water and tear proof. You can also "mark up" water holes with highlighter and it will not...

Any info on area to scout for upcoming mule deer archery hunt. Finally drew this tag after 9 years!!! I was thinking of just east of Counselors (Smouse Mesa) or southeast of Angel Peak. Any tips would surely be appreciated.
