I think antler growth was well above average. More 7 points, long beams and big backs ends than most years.

I have a Montbell altiplano that might be the best puffy on the market in terms of min weight and max warmth. It's honestly too warm for anything I do so I rarely use it and default to my Kuiu super down. Not sure it would be fire resistant though but at least another quality brand worth...

Fantasic! Open sites are indeed tough. I had a NV muzzle tag last year; many times I thought to myself I would be better off just carrying my bow. Took that one down to the end as well.

I'm in the same boat. I've used Rage for about as long as I can remember and not a single negative experience but got itchy to try something new. I did ordered some Sevr 2.0s and they seem solid in hand. Ferrule is longer than the Rage but I'm excited to try them out.

That 22S muzzle hunt is peak rut and could be really fun. Not sure it's a slam dunk for a 350"+ though. Have helped a buddy's mother on the early rifle in 22N and found some solid bulls. You might also consider Units 1 & 27.

While trying to pick up an archery deer tag right before opener if I spent .2 seconds reading what the tag was before clicking "add to cart" it was gone every time. Had to revert to just clicking as fast as I could, make payment and hope it was something interesting. Ended up with a 10s tag...

I had a muzzle in this unit here this year. Steal, cheat and lie your way into more than a couple days, you'll want all the time you can get. Best of luck!

Been salivating over the thought of picking up a ram tag but haven't seen one yet. I did snag a 231 bull muzzle tag ~month ago so can't say FCFS has been bad to me ;)

I've wondered if they would make that change. It always seemed odd that resident tags go to non-residents.

Atascosa is tough but a fun hunt. Be sure to bring a bike. Will save you hours and hours of time getting around.

Zero...but NV is my lucky state. That’s the fourth tag I’ve drawn with zero points. Other states, I swear if I have 85+% draw odds, I won’t be drawn.

Sweet! Just seen that I drew not one but two National Refuge Archery Deer hunts! The hunts partially overlap so may have to pick one over the other :unsure:

A little snooze can be nice but man it can be tough to shut it down. I spend my time glassing or moving between glassing spots. I think deer stand up to stretch or grab a quick snack far more often than we think mid-day.

I'm chopping at the bit half way around the world counting down the hours until I get home and get in 17 country. I'll be hunting all next week. Unfortunately, did not get an opportunity for a scout trip... so we'll see how it goes. Will certainly be fun even if I'm eating tag soup.

I just got back from the unit doing some scouting for 1st season archery elk. I think that's going to be a super tough deer tag. I only saw a handful of deer, no bucks in 3.5 days. Since you don't seem adamant on filling your deer tag vs getting your brother an elk I would more or less spend...

17 archery deer. Will miss the opener unfortunately but can't WAIT to get up there and explore!
