    Pnuma clothing

Another question. Has anyone tried Pnuma clothing and specifically the selkirk all weather gear? If so, how does it compare to sitka, kuiu, etc? I am looking for top quality raingear and any comments would be appreciated.

Very nice work. I have a question about the rock and brush habitat. Is that something custom that you put together or is that commercially available? Thanks

    Hunting-Hiking Boot breakdown Warning

Happened to me twice. First time was my first pair of Mendel Ibex. Second time was a pair of Cabelas extreme hunter boots. Mendel prorated their boots so I got a new pair for about $75. Cabelas didn't offer any help on their boots. I am using Zamberlains now. Boots can make or break a hunt.

    Newfoundland ???

I wanted to follow up and let everyone who provided comments that we had a really great trip to Newfoundland. We ended up hunting with Portland Creek Outfitters and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Everyone in my group saw moose and killed something. None were trophy size but...

How many non-residents are dropping out of the moose points game?

I am staying in for another year or two. Not sure I will ever draw but I sure would love to hunt shiras moose one time. Have 15 points so may never draw.

    Burned Out

I am going into my 51st hunting season. I almost quit hunting twice. Once in the 80s when the pressure to kill something every time I went to the woods got to me. The pressure was self-imposed pressure because I felt the need to keep up with my friends who really did kill something every time...

    Drawing deadline

Good luck to everyone in the upcoming drawing. I hope you draw the tag you want and get to hunt the trophy you want. Shoot one that makes you happy. I hope to be hunting my public land honey hole in October. Used to draw it in the leftover draw and bank points. Now it takes points just to have...

Bad Outfitter's and what did you do?

Hunting is hunting. No guarantees. You don't say what the problems are or what you expected from your hunt. I agree with others that there are good and bad outfitters. I have been traveling 1800 miles one way to hunt mule deer and elk for 30 years. Most have been total DIY adventures. I have...

    Newfoundland ???

Thanks again for everyone's input. I am settled on an outfitter and if all goes well I will be hunting in Newfoundland in September. Sorry to hear about everyone's bad experiences. I too have had some bad experiences with outfitters. All you can do is make the most of it and move on. Very few...

    A different draw question

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate your comments. I understand the drawing odds and points aspect. I am trying to figure out if one can distinguish between getting lucky in the general drawing or was one really lucky in the random drawing. I'm looking at antelope options. Thanks again and good...

    A different draw question

I have never seen this discussed before. If I apply and draw a license, how do I know if I drew the license in the general draw (either regular or special) or I drew after being dropped down to the random draw? Thanks.

    Antelope 50-1

Check the draw odds. I'm not sure if you can draw with 1.33 pts in the special draw or not. 10-15 years ago you could pay a trespass fee. A lot has changed since then. A lot of outfitters work that area. Not sure if you could find private to hunt or not. I will send you a PM.

    Antelope 50-1

The public access is sketchy but as others have said. It can be done. How many points do you have. PM me if you like.

Type 6. Haven't had any elk steaks for a while. Planning a trip with son-in-law to our favorite WY spot.

    Newfoundland ???

Ok. Thanks for all the information. I appreciate it. You have given me some good ideas about questions to ask the outfitters. I always struggle with how to talk to those guys and weed out the truth from the B'S. I haven't been on many guided hunts but I have to say I have been on more bad than...

    Newfoundland ???

Thanks for the heads up on the whitetail hunt. I have enough whitetail in my back yard. Sounds like you really did have a bad experience with that outfitter. Enough about him. How was the hunting? You indicated you got a moose. Did the guide call it in or was it spot and stalk? How far away? Gun...

    Newfoundland ???

Oh man, I am sorry to hear about your hunt. That sounds terrible. I looked up the outfitters website and I was not too impressed with it. How / where did you meet up with this outfitter? Did you go on a recommendation from someone else? I am going to the Great American Sportsmans Show in...

    Newfoundland ???

Thanks for the reply. 1) How did you do. 2) I note your comment about the outfitter. What were the problems? 3) do you recall what area you hunted? 4) Did you see any caribou? Thanks again. PM me if you like.

    Garmen Rhino and InReach

I'm no expert so you better check around and get a second opinion. Here is the one I ordered from Cabelas last week. It was on sale over the weekend and I had a bunch of points so you could probably find this cheaper somewhere else...

    Garmen Rhino and InReach

Thanks for all the comments. I appreciate all the feedback. I went ahead and ordered the InReach model from Cabelas since they were having a sale this weekend. It appears to be on backorder so not sure when I will get it. I just wasn't sure how much I would use the Rhino 755T features. I...

    Garmen Rhino and InReach

Thanks Bobby. So what do you mean by the "all in one unit"? Does the InReach have all the basic GPS functions? I have looked at the Rhino before but for $700+ I see no need to include a camera and flashlight when I already have more than one of each in my pack. Is the Rhino what you are...

    Garmen Rhino and InReach

Any using either of these and are they worth the money? I misplaced my Oregon GPS and am looking for a replacement. The Rhino has lots of bells and whistles but is pricey. I like the InReach ability to send texts but not sure how well it functions as a GPS. I appreciate any comments. Thanks

    Unit 74

You should see more rut activity if you get out in early October. Just do some walking and get away from the roads. Antelope are great animals and fun to hunt. Find a high spot and glass up some good bucks then put a stock on them. IMO, this is much better than driving around. Good luck...

    Garmen Rhino and InReach

Is anyone using or have experience with either the Rhino 755T or 750 GPS Radio and also the Garmen InReach. I bought an Oregon several years ago and have misplaced or lost it so I am looking to replace it. I am wondering if the Rhino is worth the money. I mainly use a GPS for marking my...

    Lighted nocs

Anyone have any experience using lighted nocs when archery hunting in WY? Specifically, anyone have a run in with the law? I checked the regs and they don't address lighted nocs or any other electronic equipment on a bow. I just called the WY G&F headquarters to ask. The first lady ( very nice...

    Broadhead alignment

I am shooting slick Trick Magnum 100s right now practicing for an elk hunt. I have been shooting two different arrows Behman ICS and Maxima Reds. I do not try to align my broadheads. Just screw them on and shoot. I am good out to 50 yards. I'm sure I could go further but 50 yards seems to be my...

    Muzzy broadheads

I used to shoot the MX3 and there was a noticeable difference in field tips versus the MX3 from my bow. I switched to the slick Tricks about 4 years ago and won't ever go back. Just my opinion. Good luck. Use what shoots best from your setup. Sharp blades in proper location should always be lethal.

    Slick Tricks

Thanks again for the additional comments. I am comfortable shooting these broadheads out to 50 yards. I will be hunting elk for the first time in September and hope to put the slick trick Magnums to the test.
