Most my grand kids are in line and pretty close. I'm not too worried about the great grand kids. I'll let their parents worry about it. Attrition happens no matter what you do.

^^^^ This. Approved as presented. Sorry no one can spend a bit of time to see what happens or look it up after the meeting. Almost like no one cares really.

    Points are Points

I get it. It is about managing people. Or at least about how others want to manage people. Some just don't agree how others want to manage people. If the management idea is to limiting how many bucks can be killed then simply eliminate those that do kill bucks for an appropriate amount of time...

    Points are Points

Increasing people population and decreasing animal population is the hole we are digging. How individual people get to participate with a diminishing resource is nothing but semantics. The pie is getting smaller and those that want a piece is getting bigger. With that said I have no idea how...

I can point to where they are not being hunted in any appreciable numbers. Does that count? Come on it should be a simple question. Obviously you have the the data. Show us.

May 2nd 2024 Wildlife Board meeting

I admit I'm not as smart as some on here and I don't know every unit in Utah like I should so for the betterment of my education what deer units in Utah general or LE are gaining more deer in the herds? And are any with certain buck levels doing better or worse? And if any are is not hunting...

May 2nd 2024 Wildlife Board meeting

I hunt the Cache. Have watched it for going on 50 years. It goes up and it goes down. Pretty much every time it goes up along comes mother nature and kills them off. I know it's a hard concept but when deer die in the winter they die because they can't feed. Nobody is killing off the herd. The...

They reach out multiple times. Agree that those who approve are less likely to comment. The fact is very few are giving input that the RAC's or WB are hearing. Don't expect they are monitoring multiple social media accounts. Good if they do for sure.

May 2nd 2024 Wildlife Board meeting

Doesn't matter peoples attention span is not that long. It's interesting the number of comments to the RAC's and WB. The discussion on shed hunting was interesting. But the total amount of comments to the RAC's and WB on any subject should be a huge wakeup for anybody that has an opinion.

    Mule Deer Proposal

That's kind of a big ask if you want my opinion. But you didn't. Is there something inherently wrong with losing points no matter how a tag is procured? Why would it decrease participation? After all it's about getting a tag. Another opportunity. Get a tag go to the back of the line. Simple.

    Mule Deer Proposal

My guess would be that very few people who are buying a CWMU voucher are also applying for points for the same species. But if they can buy one anytime they want I see no need for them to also be able to accumulate points for that species.
  16. M

    Mule Deer Proposal

It would effect the NR more the R hunters but sure why not lose any points for any species/tag? CWMU included. There appears to be a somewhat unlimited population out there willing to pay top dollar to kill something preferably with trophy bragging rights on CWMU's. Why not put a waiting period...

Should Governor Type Tags Exist? (Poll)

21% of Utah is private lands. If the salvation of mule deer is dependent on private lands they will shortly be on the endangered species list. Pray tell what landowner is is making their living on wildlife.

    Mule Deer Proposal

Bess, If you combine the two lists you would have the number of people who think they might want to hunt GS deer in Utah. Are there people with PP that are not listed? More than likely, but they are not really competing so it shouldn't matter.

    Mule Deer Proposal

Everybody sees, hears remember things in their own way. Brocks comments were we see something going on we can't explain. It deserves more study. But we are told that the Henries and Antelope Island or any other premium unit is the perfect model. All are declining with maybe the exception of...

    Mule Deer Proposal

I'm pretty much in the minority when it comes to people on here and what their ideas are about hunting deer. I actually think the DWR is doing a pretty good job with their mandate. After all it is the WB actually making the decisions. Deer populations - Seems like nobody believes the models...

    Mule Deer Proposal

Did you notice who posted the link to the workshop on here? Yes I watched the whole thing and listened to both podcasts before. Does this proposal add any more tags? Decrease tags? Or just attempt to redistribute them? People are complaining that they can't draw a tag, being too crowded when...
  25. M

    Mule Deer Proposal

The pressure should be 100 percent directed at the legislature to improve funding. The DWR's main mandate is the animals. Hunters should be a very distant second. But right now it seems that the idea is to pay tribute to more bad ideas.

    Mule Deer Proposal

We are not giving out anywhere close the same number of permits as in the past. But again it seems the the discussion is that hunters are limiting the herds. This proposal does nothing to address the herd. Not one thing.

    Mule Deer Proposal

Not sure I agree with the direction this discussion is going but if it gains traction why not just bite the bullet and go totally random draw? Would you need to limit the application by species or just limit it to one species per year? If the idea is to simplify the process then apply for one...

He has about as much chance as you Bess. It's all in the fix. It's pretty amazing that as a group we may know a few people involved in the process but we don't know them all. Or even maybe the majority. I certainly don't know any personally but I have my impressions via statements on line and...

You think this one was bad? Just keep watching. You won't see suits and ties until the WB meeting. Like that makes a difference. They are people.
