$150 NR tickets for violating Wyoming Wilderness rule (12 tickets in 10 years)

@Buzz and other WY guys. When we pass the 90/10 for Deer/Lope we should also have that include a much higher minimum fee for the wilderness rule... If anything this highlights that the law as written is not an adequate deterrent to preventing the crime as such we need that fine to higher risk.

    Cheatgrass 101

Haha… I can show you over 5,000 acres of chest grass in just one county. Don’t think this map means dick.

    Last one for the wall?

The bottom left is a guy that has since retired and no longer doing any animals. The top buck was big cat taxidermy in Craig CO. The Bottom right is Kim's Wildlife Art in Lander WY. I have been using Kim's a lot. She has done a couple deer and currently has a lope for me.

    PP/BP or random

HAHA. Sure hope you don't have a little final destination action. But seriously why would we want to save the best hunts in some of the hardest and coolest country for the old guys. If anything shouldn't we try the opposite? Maybe for these super hard tags in hard lands we should give the...

    PP/BP or random

Then 99% of people will never draw a tag and they will die with a pile of points and those who actually draw a tag will end up too old to even access the country.

TRW joint committee to take up preference to bonus point issue

What was he buying? A point. That is how points work. You bought a point, in no way do points = tags. Unless you chose to use them... But the funny part is eventually all true point based systems end up the same place. The only person getting the tag is the guy who outlives all the others. Can...

    Changes in Regulation

I would say the single biggest misconception people have is that moving from general to limited will actually improve the hunting. this is not just a Wyoming thing but you can find examples throughout the west of how the move actually caused more issues than they fixed.

    Last one for the wall?

This was the buck I took fall before the massive winter kill. It was a buck I had watched for 4 years. The first year I saw him he was a 19” basket 4x4. The last 2 he was identical each year. I just got him home from the taxi and my 14 year old and I talk. Given the current deer issues...

TRW joint committee to take up preference to bonus point issue

How is that screwing anyone? Why does any one deserve a better chance? The only fair thing is making everyone have an equal chance as everyone else every single year. Random draw is the fairest and best system period. Everything else is just form of entitlement.

Wolves killed 4 more this week…

Look like wolves have killed 4 more cattle. CPW is investigating and preparing to release a statement. 3 were killed Monday/Tuesday and one last night. All are said to be yearlings. Wolves only kill for food… Haha… This is why the definition of chronic depredation was so important..

TRW joint committee to take up preference to bonus point issue

Depends on what you mean by great… We have had several better than average hunts for both elk and lopes have had one ewe sheep tag…. I have drawn a pretty top tier area for lopes 3 times since moving here… On the flip side my wife has missed every year on a tag that has over 75% odds. I...

TRW joint committee to take up preference to bonus point issue

Nope. I have been top tiers in some licenses and I would still love to see it go random. From the get go, when points first became a thing I have always argued on the side of random. Sorry but you are wrong on this issue. When I was a nonresident and had a pile of WY points, I was arguing for...

Sorry but it is not just because it is a “ewe” tag.

    Unit 17 bighorn sheep

That’s is lot the reason. Applying for ewe tag does not affect any other draw odds.

Interesting new bill requiring Firearms insurance

So a couple things to watch... 1. The assault weapons ban could be a distraction. Meaning that everyone will focus on it and the others will slip under the radar. 2. Did you realize that one of the bills will require all firearms in a vehicle to be cased. Long guns etc. So come hunting season...

    Wolf release map.

Problem with those numbers you are not accounting for the type of animals. Nearly all of WY cattle are cow calf operations. We do not produce beef here… We have cows and calves. Then w to finish and grow those cows and calves we ship them to other states for finishing. Like TX, OK, etc. While...

Solar: Coming to a Winter Range Near You!

Correct me if I am wrong but these are being done through the BLM resource plan which means these would fall under BLM lands. I agree not much we can do about private lands but the information linked is about BLM projects.

Solar: Coming to a Winter Range Near You!

How do we attack this? Do we target specific projects? I went to the link and look at the proposals. It is huge and wide spread. Do we just write in general opposition or do we cherry pick projects we know about? I am against it period and sure hope Biden is gone and we can shut down this...

Wyoming G and H non resident tags cut again

I got in 41 days of hunting last year without taking a day off work. I am lucky, but I also worked hard to get my set up and O work...

Auctioning access to hunt private land

If they were smart what they would do it modify the HMA system and allow people who have a tag for a particular species and specific unit. Then everyone who has an eligible tag could pay a fee to enter a lottery draw for access to that land. A flat fee that takes everyone eligible and all the...

Abso litely not a good idea. They just will not let up on having transferable land owner tags. It will absolutely compete with access yes. It is going to be the one shot hunt, just for private land access….

    CPW Presentation on Lion/Bobcats

I know that in a recent meeting the CPW had a very strong presentation on lion and bobcats in the state. Does anyone have a link to that presentation. Something that could be shared with others, and not include the entire meeting etc. maybe a YouTube video?

High fence crowd at its finest

HAHA. I did not say that, but I also disagree. I think game farms should be legal. I think Private property owners should have the right to use the land they own as they see fit. The comment about the sheep being legal to hunt was meant to show that obtaining the genetic material did not mean...

High fence crowd at its finest

HAHA. I feel really icky now as well because I am agreeing with TRI as well... I also feel that the CITES violation for importing parts of an animal is one of the worst rules around and should be ended. We have no idea if the DNA/Genetic Material obtained was legally obtained or not. I do know...

High fence crowd at its finest

Ok smart guy. How would importing DNA and making a clone create a disease that would harm native sheep? I will wait for any peer reviewed science that shows that is an issue. I get the argument if he was importing live animals that could be carrying disease. But genetic material, that then is...

High fence crowd at its finest

I actually find this really cool and very interesting. The only real issue here is the Government was not getting their fair share. The sheep can legally be hunted. It is just a silly rule that prevent the importation. Which a stupid bs rule... On the flipside the science and the fact that an...

    Dolores river

HAHA. So unless it is a monument or park it has no protections? The only way for the land and wildlife to remain is by designating it? What a disaster. Also just a note, not all monuments allow hunting. Removing hunting from a monument is way easier than removing hunting from other public lands...

Willing to help / trade ?

22 would be off my list. They have absolutely hammered the deer in 22. Sad. If you want a heads up on the 21, look up the hunt Randy Newberg had with his son. A bunch of 22" basket 4x4s. Age class and over all numbers in 22 are horrible. Numbers and age class slightly better in 21, but not where...

SF 111 mule deer and whitetail separate hunting licenses, bad for mule deer.

Sent another round of emails again this am. Not sure anyone really cares or seems to understand. This will have a ton of downside. It will be only a matter of time before this forces all limited tags for all and the draw odds go to crap. It is a down ward spiral that will destroy our current set up.

    Winter range report

I am seriously not sure why anyone is surprised by this. We all knew it. We were all talking about it as it was happening. Many of us here on the forums were talking about 60% mortality. Many of us were talking nearly 100% fawn mortality. Even I. Areas where it was less devastating we were...
