MOST UNUSUAL CATCH ON A FISHING ROD???

Me - besides fish, mostly bottom rocks and logs. A good friend once caught a seagull who promptly took off, flying in big circles before the hook was final jerked loose. My brother caught a bat in the webbing between its legs - that didn't end so well for the bat.

    Kidney stones

I'm a stone thrower every couple of years. Mostly flush out in a day or two. A couple required hospital visits, including adventure like feddoc's, but without the pre-removal alcohol. Twasn't fun.

    Newfoundland Mtn success

I just wanted to officially thank all of you who helped me out with information on the sheep (and the logistics) of "the Island". After 4 scouting trips, amazingly no flat tires, and the help of a good friend, I was able to harvest a 8-9 year old ram. After missing him the previous day (had to...

Did the (early) spring hunt in Nunavut a few years ago. Highly recommend the bitter cold adventure! And bring back all the meat you can. Good stuff.

Never failed with Mark Young Outfitters in Augusta, MT (and you might get to see a grizzly!).

Your best wind story from WY…

I was told this about the winds in Great Falls, MT, but I think it equally applies to where I've hunted antelope in SE Wyoming: "One day the wind stopped, and everybody fell over..."

    Glacier National Park -Area

Elk aren't one of the majors in Glacier, although I have seen them occasionally on the west side of the park, pretty near the entrance. Pretty much guaranteed to see mountain goats on the Hidden Lake trail on top of Going to the Sun (and bighorns if you take some time to glass). I assume...

    D day

Two years ago, I had the pleasure of leading a bunch of our Boy Scouts on a trip through Normandy - we actually camped at the caretakers yard at American Cemetery. In the evenings, we would go down to the beach and the boys would play along the shore, wading, or tossing a football or a Frisbee...

    Great Rams III

Great book - very up-to-date (2012) pictures as well! Picked mine up in person at the WSF just yesterday, even got it signed by the author. The B&C folks said they just got the books 2 days before. Probably should ship shortly.

    Cache South - Late

Thanks to those who have replied. I hope to see you up there Reactor - with bulls in the backs of both our trucks. I was up there last weekend, mostly just getting familiar with the area. I did see a lots of deer and one moose (cow), but no elk. Did a little hiking in some good looking areas...

    Cache South - Late

My 14-yr old son, first year applying, drew a late South Cache bull elk tag. I am pretty familiar with the North Cache, but only have limited experieince on the southside. I figured I'd start marking up maps and getting more familiar with the area this weekend (pretty good Father's Day...

    Cache Meadowville

I believe Kearl Ranch Outfitters (Clint Kearl/Greg Wamsley) take most of the successful Meadowville elk hunters. A 400"+ bull came off their place last year and just yesterday I saw a trail camera picture from their place of a developing bull that looks like it will be at least as good.

    Wyoming Moose Unit 24

I hunted unit 24 in 2005. I spent two extended weekends in the summer scouting (and fishing with the kids) and about 5 days hunting it during the first of October. There is fairly good road access, but enough country that you can do some hiking as well. I only saw two small bulls and a few...

    Sheldon Antelope!

DougW; I appreciate the advice, although I'm getting conflicting information from people about the quality of antelope down there. If you've got any additional spots I can circle on my map, I'd love to hear it. I'd appreciate it if you could either PM me or shoot me an email at...

    Sheldon Antelope!

I got one, too!? Hopefully, the freezer will be antelope-rich this fall.? I also drew a Utah antelope tag (Parker Mtn), and my boy and I will likely draw a Wyoming tag!? Well, I cashed in my bonus points (5) and drew an area 24 moose tag, so now begins the summer long scouting process. Any additional guidance or advise on the best techniques for Shiras hunting would be certainly appreciated. Looking forward to (lots of) moose steak. And I've always thought...

Was this a screw-up? SFW purchase

Spent six weeks at Prudhoe Bay a few years ago (an Aug - Sept). There where plenty of caribou all over the place, until the frost hit and then the place was empty. Anyway, I would suspect an outfitter would know the migration routes and such. Deadhorse has a commercial airport, so you could...

    Range War in the Gila

Having spent a fair amount of time hunting the Aldo Leopold wilderness down there, I have some first hand knowledge of the area. I would have to say the Laney operation severely overgrazed the grasses and tore up much of what little riparian habitat is down there. It just got worse and worse...
