    CO Deer 3rd Season help

Not a great tag. Good bucks will be on private land. All you can do is hunt hard every minute of every day and hope for the best. Start high and work your way down.

    >Does it only show a code >if you drew your first >choice? Just wondering because we >put in for a 2nd >choice that was guaranteed?? But >still shows a 400 code > No 500 code no tag unfortunately. I also thought my second choice was guaranteed, but still show only a 400 code.

So if I still have a 400 number for deer, I didn't draw?

    Amusing story

Saw this posted on a fishing forum. Amusing story as well as a perfect reply to an over-reaching bureaucracy that seldom sees itself on the other end of it's ridiculous regulations. STORY: The State of Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife sent a letter to a home/landowner asking for...

    3rd and 4th Season Reports

LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-16 AT 11:50AM (MST)[p]I found the 4th season to be slow for deer. I saw three bucks in three days, other years would have seen thirty or so n the same amount of time. Buck #3 was decent and since things were slow, he hit the dirt!

Get in shape, get away from the roads, stay quiet and pay attention.

    Leftover list

Preference points are given to those who did not draw their first choice. When you chose a preference point as your first choice you give up your chance at a premium tag.

    2015 Governers Tag Bull

Not critiquing the animal...like I said magnificent!! In my opinion....the small 5x5 and few cows I have been able to take on my own, by foot, on public land are bigger accomplishments than buying a governor's tag and hiring an outfitter.

    2015 Governers Tag Bull

Wow!! How can two tiny little guys like that cover enough ground to find such a magnificent animal?!? It looks like it would take both of them to fire that rifle.

first day henry's buck or no?

    I'd say he's 5'11" about 215 lbs with a 38" waist

    Refunds

Your absolutely right...what a joke. Those pot heads can't get anything right. I say we all boycott hunting Colorado. Let's apply in other states that have it all together because marijuana is illegal. Probably not safe hunting near all those drug addicts anyway.

Maybe Jake had such a fantastic adventure and got a buck so freakishly large that he needs to secure the rights for the movie before posting??

    HUGE buck killed in Colorado

I'm thinking that this buck probably would have been a monster in the 1850's!

    Stupid question bull elk

I know that is the rule, but I don't do it. I hunt four miles from the road. I debone my animals and pack out meat only. Don't want a pair of testes attached to any of it!! I guess if I had to I'd try to play dumb and invite the ranger to hike out and inspect the kill site.

It depends a lot on how much snow we get by then. It'll be easier to travel in the atv, until there is too much snow.

Lots of hotels in Black Hawk or Central City. What will you have for transportation? I live in the area and am happy to help with a couple of spots.

FS to screw over recreational shooters....

I've lived in the Front Range foothills for fifteen years, and this problem has gotten much worse over the last few years. There are many, many more people shooting and most DO NOT respect the forest they are in. Bullet casings everywhere!!! TVs, furniture, paint cans, plywood, sheet metal, real...

    CO DOW thoughts

I agree about the vets, they deserve it! If we were to put kids at the front of the line, hunters with kids will have an in to hunt the best units. I'm okay with that because that means more kids will experience quality hunts as their first hunts and will be more likely to develop the love for...

    Need a good freighter pack

The shoulder straps and belt have good padding and are comfortable with a load.

    Need a good freighter pack

I have the Kelty freighter and I like it. I found using my Arcteryx pack works better if I tighten the straps in the middle of the pack and on the bottom all the way. That keeps the small, but heavy load of meat in the top of the pack and it's more comfortable.

    2012 Colorado Buck

Mntman-This is the first year ever we didn't draw. Last year we couldn't hunt because of family obligations. I guess I need to do just what you said...find another area for the years we don't draw.

    deer draw is up again!

I don't know how reliable that info is. I'm a resident who draws a buck tag every year for a unit that doesn't require any points. My info is now showing I have a point for 2014.
