    Not Much, but Something!

Yeff2... My opinion is pre-season scouting is key to finding sheds. Unfortunately, as of late I have not had the time to do that but in years past it worked for me. I had some hot spots but over the years they have been found and ground pounded before I can get to them. I've been fortunate to...

    Not Much, but Something!

They may not be much but they are something! I haven't had much time to shed hunt this season, so I was pretty happy to pack out these three Saturday.

    Deer Condition

Thanks for the feedback! I have been pondering for days what this condition could be and if it could be spreading throughout the herds. I still think this little guy needs to be put out of his misery! My nephew took a buck not far from this buck last year that was missing an eye. Makes me wonder...

    Deer Condition

My husband and I took our yearly July trip to the San Juan and Blue Mountains last week and was completely horrified by the condition of the deer herd. Five bucks we saw have the same condition as the buck pictured. This little guy just has the more severe case of the five. I was hoping to run...

    Sheds for Sale!

As painful as it will be I need to make room to finish my basement by selling all my white (mostly hard white) sheds; still holding on to my browns for future projects. If there are any buyers in, or will be in the Price, Utah area and would like to pick them up for a reasonable offer feel free...

    A Long Hike!

Two weekends ago I glassed up these sheds lying out in a valley but it was too late in the day to hike into them. So for a week I sat at work with them on my mind and also with the idea maybe there could be some browns out there too. Unfortunately, after a long hike and two snake encounters we...

    Bear baiting

I drew a fall archery bear tag in Utah last year, but unfortunately I was not able to fill my tag. I can say I had an awesome time trying! Mama Bear and her tots, Pork and Chop would devour my bait station on a regular basis. She presented me with many opportunities for a shot, if only she would...

    Sherman Buck's

It took three hunts and numerous stalks to finally bring the elusive 3x4 down! Kudos to my husband Justin for an amazing spot and to my brother-in-law Bruce for finally bagging him! My nephew Camron made a great shot on a nice 3x4 the same weekend. Good job guys!!! Persistence and team-work paid...

    Ram is on the Wall!

greyghost, Here are the measurements my brother sent to me. Base: 46" wide Bottom of base to top of horns: 50" high My brother built a wood template of that section of wall and gave it to his taxidermist so he could get the exact measurement and angle. It worked perfectly! Good luck on your...

    Nephew's First Sheds

I wanted to share my nephew's (Joey and Jordan) first experience shed hunting. I was leery taking them knowing my honey holes had already been hit by other shed hunters and the bucks are very few and far between. Anymore it's like looking for a needle in a hay stack. I didn't want them to get...

    Old Photos Contest

I wanted to pay tribute to my father, Joe Penovich Jr. who was an avid outdoorsman. I was able to find a few pics from the 70's and 80's of him in his element and a few harvests he made. He had all the skills and knowledge of a true "Mountain Man". May he live on in our hearts and memories...

    Brother's Desert Big Horn

Mental hunt is right!! My attitude was this is a once in a lifetime tag, no problem, bag and tag opening weekend! How ignorant I was. Definitely not like hunting Mule Deer and elk. We would love to take what we learned and do it all over again.
