Name that bird quiz part VI

Thanks for the help. I would have never gotten #4 right. I would still probably say a Dusky Flycatcher if you wouldn't have seen the male. Thanks for the chance to guess and for the great photos.

    good bear?

Might not be the biggest bear on the mountain, but in the area you are hunting, if you want to shoot a bear, you better shoot that one, or the outfitters will have the quota filled by Wednesday. Good luck on whatever you decide.

    Which Wy elk unit???

Area 7 would be alright. You might also look at 35. If you're looking to hunt archery and rifle, 38 and 39 are out of the question. 36 and 37 would be decent as well. 36 better than 37. 37 elk all go to private fairly early. Good luck.

    Find of the year

I was lucky and found 4 last summer, but none in as good a shape as that one. One was a very large bull, but it fell apart as I was digging. Nice find.

"Permit" to hunt shed horns in Utah?

I'm not from Utah, so I can only imagine the problem. Why doesn't the DOW designate areas as wintering grounds and not allow anybody in those areas until June 1 or some data. That includes the hikers, fisherman, horn hunters, etc. And the DOW should get off their lazy butts and patrol the...

    Betcha Residents start drawing

Hunterscout is right about the wintering grounds. I don't agree with residents having to draw a tag. I don't think they should allow all the rifle hunters in there early. If you want a big buck in one of those regions, you'll have to get it with a bow. I'll never hunt over there again. I've...

Wyoming or surrounding states whitetail hunting

If you want to shoot a whitetail in Wyoming, head to the northeast (Wyoming Black Hills) part of the state. There is a fair amount of public land and some great bucks, if you can find them. Most of the bucks seem to be 1 1/2 years old.

Shed Rumor, 140 inches on one side?

I saw pics of a shed from easternIdaho that was said to be 120". It had a typical 5 pt frame with an extra 22" main beam that split with some other junk. I think the other side was just a 4 pt, but not sure.

    Whitetail shedding!!!!

I know whitetail aren't too popular on this site, but they are starting to shed here and I'm getting the fever. I found 4 browns on friday and a buddy of mine found one this morning. Sheddyshed, you need to come up here and find a few.

    Wyoming 67 or 38?

I've hunted 38 many times and it is getting worse. There are too many people up there that think they know how to archery hunt. You really can't get too far away from a road. There are a couple of places, but the best hunting seems to be within a couple of miles of the roads. I wish they...

    whitetail shedding??

A buddy of mine said that the whitetail are starting to shed in Northern Wyoming. Don't know if it's true, so I'll go check it out for myself this weekend.

    Wyoming moose question?

I would try to draw in any of the areas in the Bighorns. With 6 points, you will have to be might lucky. Heck, if you can draw a tag in one of the other areas, you may as well go for it.
