    CWD Jumping to Humans?

Idaho has had at least 2. One was from the campaign to napalm unit 14 this last winter, the other was just after the initial cwd discovery in'21

    Idaho Elk Calf Issues....................

I have no doubt that predators cause half of all calf mortality. I do question the 12 percent from wolves and 36 percent from mountain lions. I would think it would be vice versa.

    Idaho muzz changes

I don't believe anything changed. There was work going on to include non lead projectiles. Rep Mendive bypassed that and came up with the muzzy free for all that was ultimately tabled.

    Mike Tyson hand delivered beatdown

I watched the Tommy Fury /JP fight. Paul isn't even in the same league as Tyson. Paul takes a long time to wind up and throws long right punches. They are slow and well advertised. That gives Tyson an opening for his up close body punches. If this isn't an rigged outcome, Tyson mops the floor...

    Mike Tyson hand delivered beatdown

Jake Paul's only weapon is an over hand right. He is slow, undisciplined, and gassed in any fight that lasts longer than 2 rounds. Watch Tyson's training videos. At 57, that man is still a beast. If nothing is staged, or rigged Tyson is going to f^&&* this kid up.

    SXS mileage

You'll like it, especially if you are out in the desert hunting dogs. They move around so much faster and smoother than a Jeep or little truck. I use mine a lot in the winter. It doesn't have a heater but the Honda's generate enough cab heat, that I don't really need one. The dust sucks, you can...

    SXS mileage

They still haven't caught up. I have a '21 Pioneer 1k5 and they are 10 years behind everyone else, in almost every aspect.

    College v. Trade school

If a guy was looking for a way to move to a small mountain town, public works would be a great ticket. I don't know how many towns in Idaho that are looking for operators, but it's a bunch of them.

    College v. Trade school

Both disciplines are going to be hurting in the next 5 years. The conventions I attend have a lot of grey hair.

    Bummer

They don't pull brain matter for the sample. They pull the lymph nodes. And yes, they will go after you if you blow through a check station. I've seen them do it a few times at the station outside HSB.

    Bummer

Roughly 50 miles from the initial hit. Wonder if IFG is going to wholesale slaughter that unit. It's just across the highway from one of the historically best units in Idaho.

How bad does it have to get

I propose a 10 year residency requirement, retroactive to 2015 and you hunt the county that you live in.

It’s time for a real discussion

Correct. Muleys can increase herd size in the mid 20's % a year in good conditions. Whitetails are closer to 65% increase.

    Elk in the corn

It gives you an idea how tough it is to get those buggers out of a corn field. If they will sit there and let a mower hit them, you sure as hell are going to have a hard time hazing them out.

    Unit 15 mule deer?

It's pretty easy for those deer to disappear on the north side of that country. It gets pretty ugly once you get back into the treeline.

    Who wants a job?

Pretty good log cutters don't last long! I cut road ROW on contract once in a while. Idaho has a state safety inspector and if there is an accident REPORTED, OSHA investigates.

In Idaho you just piss and moan to your local legislator, then they will short cut IFG and pass legislative rules.

That Rokcast is definitely worth a listen. Habitat is the number one condition on mule deer numbers.

    Land lock question??

For the most part, I would say no. It’s largely dependent on if there is a government agency easement assigned to that road.Very few landowners grant pass through if they aren’t forced to.

    Unit 18 Mule Deer quality

I first hunted muleys in 18 in 2006. I hunted in there a lot for whitetails in the late '80's all through the '90's. It's been a controlled unit for muleys as long as I can remember. With the habitat that it offers, plus the controlled aspect of it, you would expect at least a few B and C bucks...

    Unit 18 Mule Deer quality

There is an extremely dominant 3 point/front crab claw gene in the southern portion of the unit. It's been a few years since I have drawn that tag, but opening week can be hectic. At least they changed the opener away from the elk opening, it used to be pandemonium on that opening day. Be...

    Deer killers

They don’t have kissing parties, but they do share salt/mineral licks. One of the articles I read stated that for some reason elk aren’t as susceptible as deer are and moose are even less than elk.

    Deer killers

I don’t think it is as prevalent in elk, but one of the first few animals to show it was a cow elk by Whitebird. Obviously the 2 muleys were first in Slate Creek but that cow was just a couple of months after. Elk carry it, but if they don’t present faster than deer, they are spreading those...

    Deer killers

It will be up the main Salmon this fall. They had a positive test in the fall that was in Nut Basin. It is present in the dirt and apparently can be carried by ticks. There are a ton of salt licks between Slate Creek and Allison Creek. There is no putting that toothpaste back in the tube. It...

What are your local beef prices?

I just bought a half from my cousin. She sells locally through CL. $3.00 a pound hanging weight, $.87 a pound cut and wrapped and split the kill fee of $90.00. Hanging weight was just a hair under 800 pounds. charolais limousin cross.

    Kiling off Idahos deer!

It moved 8 miles to the east in a year. It was found in Nut Basin, although that still drains into Slate Creek, it’s only a ridge away from being in Allison Creek to the southeast and a ridge from being in the SF of the Clearwater to the northeast. IFG hasn’t reported on how many of the 400 plus...

    Kiling off Idahos deer!

Between that extra exploratory hunt in '21, the 100 percent increase in antlered muley tags, extra muley does, whitetail does and extra whitetail antlered tags, and the 400 plus animals taken out in February, what the hell is left?! The 200 head that winter upriver of Riggins? Like I said...

    Kiling off Idahos deer!

Have you heard if IFG is going to set up their own lab for testing? As of now, I believe they are sending samples down to Co for analysis. The animals are pretty spread out during summer and fall, but the winter herd congregations are pretty strong. Between Nov of '21 to Nov '22 it made a...
