To calculate the "overall" odds of hunting, just switch the odds to decimals and add them together. Deer = .038, elk = .002, moose = .0008 and turkey = .250. .038+.002+.0008+.250=0.2908 or a 29% chance of hunting (1 in 3.44 odds) Hope this helps.

I have a 12 x 12 model and really like it. It does loose heat a bit quicker than a wall tent, but is much, much easier to set up. Mine has performed very well in both rain and snow.

Has anyone been up to the Flat tops this summer? With as much heat as we've had and the lack of rain, I was wondering what the conditions are like.

I drew the same tag (archery elk) and this time of year the elk are all high, especially with the heat we've had. Get anywhere above 7,300 ft and you'll find elk.

We hunted down there 2 years ago on the 2nd archery hunt (last week of September). We hunted the Indian Peaks area and found several bulls, one in the 370" range. Black Mountain is also a pretty good area, but it gets alot more pressure.

I've been over there scouting for elk and there are deer everywhere, especially up high. I've seen a bunch of mediocre bucks and 2 that are going to be really nice, pushing 28" or 30".

I was down there this last weekend and there are deer everywhere. We saw 4 or 5 bucks with great growth (already with full 4-point frames). Lots of really little bucks as well.
