    Spotting Scope for Backpack Hunting

Thanks guys. I've looked at pretty much all the options you've listed and have read good things about all of them. I'm going to try and run to Cabela's and see what they have in stock just so I can get my hands on a few of them and see/feel the difference firsthand before I make a decision.

    Spotting Scope for Backpack Hunting

For those that backpack in for multiple night hunts, are you carrying a 50mm or 65mm objective spotting scope? I'm looking at picking up a new spotter, but am trying weigh the pros and cons of both. Obviously the weight is my concern with the 65mm scope, however the low light transmission...

    Colorado GMU 3/301

We are back from the hunt and happy to report it was a successful one. We saw an incredible amount of deer, but bucks bigger than a forkhorn were tough to come by. I'd estimate we saw 300+ deer in the 3 days we hunted (most were on private, but there were still a lot on public), and only saw 4...

    Colorado GMU 3/301

Heading to Craig tomorrow once I get off work (hopefully the mountain roads aren't too crappy). Going to hunt Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Will post up a report once I get back!

    Colorado GMU 3/301

Appreciate the advice. I have all of the above covered, but the recommendation of calling CPW is a good one. Never done that before, so might as well give them a call and see what they have to say. Thanks again.

    Colorado GMU 3/301

Anyone have any 3/301 advice they'd be willing to share? My fiance has a 3rd season buck tag and we're going to go out Nov 5 and hunt the second half of the season. We went out in early June to get the lay of the land. Checked out quite a few areas and spent most of our time up by Maybell. This...

    Colorado 41 and 421

Feel free to PM me if you're looking for more details on our location, but as I mentioned the best buck we saw was a decent 4x4.

    Colorado 41 and 421

I hunted 42/421 all of first season anywhere from 8.5k-10.5k feet. We were looking for elk (didn't see a single one), so we spent most of our time at the higher elevation. That being said, we did see a few deer each day with the majority of them around 9k. Saw one decent 4x4, but the rest were...

    CO 1st rifle report

Hunted the full season from 8k-10.5k. Didn't see an elk the entire time. Found fresh sign a couple days, but not much to speak of. Saw a few deer, but that's it. Oh yeah, I got a sunburn too!

    Colorado 41 and 421

I have a cow tag for the 1st rifle season up there, but we'll be hunting pretty high. Will let you know how the deer situation looks when we return. Took a quick scouting trip the middle of August and jumped a little fork horn, but that was it.
