I would echo the statement about bringing along bear spray. It may not be as macho as a .44 magnum, but it sure sounds effective. But don't take my word for it. Get online and read up on some of the studies -- something like 94% effective in reported bear conflicts.

A 2 point max would certainly change my plan. No use wasting money on a draw with long odds if you can only double your chances. Pretty lame system if you ask me. I was hoping it would be like my native state, South Dakota, where you continuously build points with each unsuccessful draw.
