I had the archery tag 2 years ago, goats everywhere. Unless you're being super picky you shouldn't have a problem finding a good goat. I don't think or would matter early or late unless you have one scouted out.

I have the area 6 archery elk tag, got it as a alternate the other day. If anyone out there deer hunting or scouting is seeing some good bulls and doesn't mind passing it along I'd appreciate a lead. I'll be up there scouting in 2 weeks in the spots I know, hoping they're still in there.

Thanks buttedozer! My leg is much better, still a little nerve damage but nearly normal. Scary for sure, don't ever want to be in that kind of situation again.

The wording is tricky but the way I read it you need non-lead for chukar UNLESS you're on a licensed game club.

Filled a tag on opening day of archery and general season this year in the backcountry. It made for a short season but the best one ive had hunting my local zone.

If you live in the Reno area, I'm pretty sure cabelas sells California hunting license and tags. Id pick one up soon, they'll be sold out just after the season starts.

That's a good looking buck, congrats!

IDFG should have all there harvest stats available on their page.There's a ton of varying terrain and habitat in the state, Pick a unit you like and stick with it. It may take a little time to figure out. Don't get caught up bouncing around "looking for the deer".
