I have from "out of the yukon". I went to a hunting show (same as gordon eastmen did) in the early 60's with my father. He traveled around to all the town and showed his movie.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-12-05 AT 09:26PM (MST)[p]I've got an old book of his called "America's Number One Trophy"copyright 1964 . It's awesome , my father met him at one of his shows and he autographed the book . The sheep hunting stories are the best , he'd go on sheep hunts for a month or longer sometimes . I'd love to hear more about him too.

Got this same book: The Mule Deer, In Search of Big Heads by Jim Bond.
It is in excellent shape and was given to me by a MM member a year ago to read. Very nice book and he did not pay $18.00 for it.
But they are probably not many of them around now and will go up in price when one comes available to sell.

Manny, BUY IT!

Boy talk about memories! My dad and I saw his show in the Ukiah High School auditorium in about 1957 two years before I was old enough to legally hunt.Dad was hunting Kiabab every November (just a permit fee to hunt on forest,no draws)then and they were looking for 40 inchers. Think dad ended up killing a 34 inch 7x5 with 27 inch main beams last day that year out of Sowatts area of what is now 12a west.7 hunters all with extra point bucks except one 34 inch typical 4 pt.They hunted on foot and packed their bucks out whole on their backs.Camped at pine flats and were really impressed by an outfitter based there by the name of Jack Church.Referred to his clients bucks as really big compared to the ones Dad and his pals were killing. The film that Bond showed really impressed us with lots of mulie footage from Utah and the Alaska stuff was beyoun our belief. Hey Manny 15 my DOB 5/23/47 .Hope you will be this old someday too!Being this old is not all that bad.Started going to Wyoming in 1970 and thought the Good Old Days were done with the tough tag draw and all. After a 5 year no draw got a limited tag last year.Made my first alone trip to rawlins and enjoyed every minute of the 10 and 1/2 days hunting by myself and killed the 2nd best buck of my life(190 4x4).Thank God for every hunt you can make.My Dad and all his hunting buddies who taught me to hunt and love it so much are all gone now and too many friends even my young age are gone too.The one main drawback to a hunt by yourself is not sharing the joy with friends whether you kill or your buddy does. Later Louie

Biglouis' I know what you mean, I ended up going to Sask Canada last year on my own...still enjoyed my self but it's just not the same with out family and friends...

BigLouis- I feel for you. Im 33 and have hunted with my Dad since I was twelve. I dont even like to think of hunting without him. Its such a proud moment harvesting an animal and sharing it with him since he taught me everything I know about hunting. Its such a huge part of our lives and when you have to do it without the one you used to share the experience with, its heart-wrenching. Heres a thought- the next time youre out in the field- talk with the folks that can no longer share it with you. It may feel like they are right there with you!!
