Hunting Late Season High Country Bulls

I just talked to my stepdad and he informed me that the grass at our highcountry spot is still in summer like conditions with no snow up top. According to the forcast it looks like its going to be warm with no storms in forcast. My question is do you guys think I should go hunt high (9000-12500) and if I do whats the best way to hunt them this time of year? I have hunted this area a lot during the archery season but never later than early october.

Any help would be appreciated

About half the time when I go to CO for the 3rd season we have hunted high due to lack of snow. I prefer the high country as I think it is easier to find and see the elk in Aspens, meadows and dark timber than it is in the oak brush down lower. I do a lot of sitting watching openings. If there is some moisture you can also creap through the dark timber effectivly. It is pretty hard to creap through the aspens as they have dropped their leaves and its noisy.

Gonna have to work to get'em. Head into the Timber and Quakes. It was a tough season, not many animals moving around, the rut got started early and late depending on location.

I've spoke to alot of hunters that were SUPER discouraged with the Elk Hunt. All said the same thing, wierd behaviour, minnimal movement and minnimal activity.

Don't be afraid to get dirty, and work for you Bull. Best of luck and hopefully you'll have some pics to post and a story to share.
