Drew an early rifle tag for CO Unit#43 Wilderness area.
I have been in the southern portion of the wilderness in the winter several times - but do not know the rest of the area.
Any suggestions or info would be appreciated!

Unless you know the area very well I wish you a lot of luck. Tuff hunt with some brutal county and not a many deer

I agree, the deer are hard to find in this unit this time of the year. Lots of country for them to roam around. It is hard but find isolated chutes and draws away from hiking trails. There are a lot of trails but there is some remote rugged places. On the good side I think there are more deer in this unit then any of the other early rifle buck units. You will do good. Good luck.

There are some good bucks above timberline, with plenty of places to look. Look at the basins on either side of the high peaks starting with Capitol Peak. Those high peaks are difficult to access, you'll have to scout to find the right areas to hunt. You better be in good shape also... Good luck, Steve

I had a 43 archery tag quite a few years ago and had to do an incredible amount of hiking to find the few pockets of bucks that were available. All I can say is be in tip top shape or you may be somewhat disappointed!
