NE Wyoming Drought Conditions?

I am currently waiting on my Wyoming special area tag. But just in case I don't get it I tried to line up a left-over tag hunt in the Gillette, Wyoming area. Most of the ranchers I called were not really excited about this year with the drought. But it looks like they have recieved some rain and late snow. Before I spend another couple of hours calling ranchers can anybody give drought conditions for that area? I would like to do a ranch hunt because I'll be by myself. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

they're probably REALLY jacked up after the weather they've been having the last few weeks. Rain every couple of days, generally cooler than average. Moisture's been great since April or so.

Ditto,
A person in my office was in Gillette last week and said everything was green and they had showers almost every afternoon.

Ditto,ditto,....if they complain about moisture this year there will NEVER be a good year.

I have to agree, been watching the radar for there and it seems like the Gillette area has been gettin' it good the last month or two. I just hope I draw the tag!
madmike - sorry to say you might be a little late in checking into a ranch to hunt, unless you go later in the season. When I checked into it, I called 76 landowners in the Gillette, Sheridan, Wright areas. I think only about 10 had openings, and most charged $400-500 for a two day hunt. And I called a month or so before the application deadline. Waiting this long might be tough.
Good luck.

I have been watching the radar also, its been raining off and on since April. Mostly thunderstorms. We hunted the Buffalo area last year and did pretty well, 3 deer for 4 guys. This year should be just as good if not better. Good luck.
