Landowner tags for CO mule deer hunts- are these worth purchasing for early archery hunt? I have no experience hunting out of my home state but would really like to try. My understanding of the landowner tag only provides me with the ability to buy the deer or elk tag, out of state license and to hunt the unit selected. I assuming this is a way to avoid putting in for the draw? I just want to hunt out of state not necessarily looking for a huge trophy but a decent buck. Any advice on planning an out of state hunt, my goal is to put in for next year MT, or ID. I guess I want DIY self hunt, would love to go on a guide but the prices are outrageous and just don't seem to fit in the family budget.

you may want to contact the dept of wildlife and see if any tags were left over after the draw before you spend any money on landowner vouchers for those units. There are usually a good many tags (especially archery) left over after the draw. I just checked and I believe their were 266 either sex archery tags available for that area for this fall. The number may go down some after the second choice draw but I'm pretty sure there will be some for the leftover sale.
Either way, I don't think its going to make a lot of sense to pay for a landowner voucher for that tag.
Hope this helps.

There are a couple of archery landowner vouchers for unit 44 for sale in the Hunts and Tags section of this sight. There are some big bucks in the unit. Check them out, the price may be negotiable...Steve

Based on the leftover license list it looks like right now there are 13 unit 44 archery tags leftover after the draw...

Yep do a little homework and save yourself some money. Many of the landowner tag whores are still selling vouchers in units where you can buy the tags over the counter.

Could you guys clue me into where I can find the left-over license list? I've seached the CDOW website, but can't seem to find it. Thanks!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but
I think they sent them out to folks that checked "if unsuccessful put me in for leftove draw" or something like that.
After that draw, they'll publish a list to go on sale over the counter.
