Nebo Loop

Does anyone know if the snow has melted off the Nebo Loop?

I was up there yesterday evening. The snow is still patchy on the east and north slopes but the road is clear. Some deer have moved up fairly high already but most are still lower.

Here is a picture I took from up top last night just as the sun was disapearing behind the mountain.

I forgot to mention that both the Santaquin Canyon and Nephi Canyon gates are still closed. You can get up the Payson Canyon way but you'll have to flip around and head out that way as well. I hear Nephi Canyon is closed until Aug for road repairs and Santaquin Canyon has a HUGE snow drift that needs removing and a pretty major bridge repair too. What a mess!

NvrEnuf, thanks for the great photo and heads up on the Nephi gate. Guess we won't be taking that route for a while.

Both gates on the Nephi side are now open. I guess everyone finally complained enough to the Forest Service. It was a joke that they had it shut in the first place.

Though many may say the grass isn't always greener on the other side, I believe heading to Nebo this weekend and leaving the Black Hills (I mean the Red Hills) of St. George would go against the meaning of the quote.

Though is may be beautiful down here, it is nice to head back to the old stomping grounds.
