Scent control!

I'll be hunting the high country for deer in September and was wondering how to control my scent when stalking a deer. I'll be backpacking and sleeping where ever the deer take me. But wondered what to do about scent control, especially after traveling countless miles of walking, climbing, and sweating? What does everyone use to control their scent?

Wind in your face. Nothing works better. If your in country with water, bath with a scentless soap.

When in doubt, floor it.

Diplomacy is the art of saying "nice doggy" until you find a big stick.

Mick,

Bring some type of scentless soap and find a nice cold waterhole or creek. I like to do the whole body immersion and soap down once a day while bowhunting. I think it helps. It is pretty hard on your cajones though.

Very simple solution....

Go get a travel pack of baby wipes. I like the ones that are unscented. They come in cool plastic containers that pack well. Bring a couple 20 packs and you'll be fresh and clean all trip long. Keep the "boys" clean and it will be a much more enjoyable trip.

I figure if babywipes can scrape away (and clean) that stinky $hit spackle baby's make, then they can probably handle a little blood and sweat.

Larry has a great point with the baby wipes. But one important factor that everyone seems to be leaving out is the deorderant. Make sure you get an UNSCENTED Type as well. If you are not able to find that go and get a bottle of scent killer and that will get rid of the smell for the time being. Best of luck to you during your hunting trip.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-14-05 AT 06:39PM (MST)[p]Baby wipes work good. I also use a product called Nullo. It is an internal deoderant that works pretty good. It neutralizes the odor causing bacteria somehow. And eliminates odor. You can buy it through pharmacy without a prescription. 3 days before you start your hunt take one tablet in the morn. and one in the eve. Continue this throughout your hunt and it will really help eliminate your body odor. Only side effect is that it turns your tongue a little green. I order it through CVS, about $11.00 for a 60ct bottle. Give it a try. Has any of you other hunters ever used it?

I would ask either hunter harry, or bc boy, these guys really know thier stuff, they really only sit on the computer all day and are ugly as sin, but they know how to stink
