With dogs being a popular topic lately I thought I'd ask a related question. While over seas several years ago while doing some service training I tasted dog meat twice and found it somewhat tasty, almost like beef. Anyone else? What do you think of this practice?

MSG or no MSG, I ain't eaten no canine!!! Shrimp fried rice, but not fiddo !!!!

Some of those taco's I've eaten while in Mexico, sure have a unique taste to them unlike anything I've eaten back in the states. Just might be "perro" tacos.
Have you ever been to the Orient ? I hear they eat monkeys over there.
P.S. welcome to the site, we always need answers :)

I ate dog in the city of Liangshaun in the Sichuan Province.... and they did have monkey there as well but I don't eat my own kind :) This monkey is here to answer questions and get answers, I go both ways.

i got some tamales off a street vendor in nogie once. so i probably ate some dog. they were ok. but hell i eat lions too, so it ain't no big deal.

I always say "if it's meat, I'm down to eat". Really dog is probably better than eating bobcat or mountain lion.

In Tijuana it was common 20 years ago to see dog's roasting on a skewer. I did try it and it was good. Very flavorfull, made beef taste bland. I had a horrible stomache ache the next two days but not too bad. A girl I was dating at the time ate some with 3 of her friends and they all got food poisining. Her sister had to go to the emergency room two days later becuase she was vomiting & crapping so much she was severly dehydrated. Needless to say I won't ever eat that again but if prepared safe in a clean enviroment I would try it again.

Dabassmassta, you're killing me. I asked DeerKing if he wanted to come over and eat already chewed chicken and duck at our barbecue. I didn't hear back, so maybe I should serve dog. I've got one thats almost seasoned now. Its been hanging from my flagpole for aobut 36 hours in this heat.

Sounds like you are serving hot-dog. What kind of buns should I bring? You didn't tell us it was a weiner dog...

When I was in Korea in 1985, they were serving it up. I do not believe I ate any but who knows...

I knew guys from the island of Chuuk. They would talk about eating dog all of the time and about how delicious it was. I never had the chance. (!)

The mentioned how it was the black ones they ate and no other color. The best thing they said was that when they would have their islands hit by a typhoon, the Greenpeace jokers would come to the islands to "help" them. Anyway, since one can't fish before or right after a typhoon, they ate dog. They all would keep it to themselves until AFTER they fed it to the visitors. Then they would laugh as the Greenpeace fellers would get sick to their stomach at the thought.

I tell that story all the time. One of the kitchen helpers told me, and I quote, "They make good friend, and they are really tasty." Oh how I miss those guys!

I got a fortune at a Chinese restaurant in White Rock, BC one time. It read:

"That wasn't chicken"

Speaking of the "dog days of summer"..........I went over to check on a hunting buddy of mine a while back and took this picture.

He and I both have some work to do to get into hunting shape!

Note the church pew that I helped him refinish. That's where he goes to drink his "Lord" Calvert (and his beer) :)

That proves it... dog's DO resemble their owners (or is it the other way around?)

When in doubt, floor it.

Diplomacy is the art of saying "nice doggy" until you find a big stick.
