I can'tgive you more than a general answer. I've hunted southern Utah for 10 years. Lots of deer, more good bucks every year. Just about anywhere you go, for a quality hunt, you need to get at least a half mile from the all the atv trails if you hope to get a mature buck. Also, I've found that many folks head straight to the top of mountain overlooking the transition country of oaks to quakies. This is a mistake. I've seen some great deer at mid elevation as everyone else headed up the mountain. If its hot and dry, figure out where they are watering and look to ambush them to or from water. It's nothing for deer to travel a mile or more to water. Most important, get off the road and put some distance between you and other hunters. It's easy to kill a yearling from the road--the bigger bucks will rarely get caught there unless it's at first light. I would avoide the extreme southern part of the unit. It is my experience that a considerable number of deer have migrated down into the Paunsagant by the time the rifle hunt rolls around. I've killed some decent bucks on Dutton, but its easy to miss the migration. There are good numbers of deer on the Griffin side--I just haven't seen the same number of older class bucks. No doubt they are there. Personally, I'd hunt middle to north end of the unit. I know of some great bucks that have come off the boulder. Good luck.
