LAST EDITED ON Jul-14-05 AT 04:18AM (MST)[p]So It's 4am in Salt Lake and here I am at the computer. I work as a dispatcher in the West Valley. We are located around Hwy 201 and 5600 W. So I'm typing away when I see 4 deer walk in front of the window. 3 bucks and doe...I about fell outta my chair! One buck was a decent 3 point not real wide but pretty tall and the other 2 were forks. The funniest thing was the 2 young bucks were playing in our parking lot for about 10 minutes chasing each other. I thought they would avoid the lights, are lot is pretty bright but it didn't bother them (city deer LOL). I see some interesting things at 4am in the West Valley but it's the first time I've seen deer!

You would be suprised by all the deer that are out west of you, by the Lee Kay Center, and further west towards the Kennecott dike. In the winter, you can also find a few straggler elk hanging in the Russian Olives, on the dike. I grew up in the area, and used to hunt waterfowl, before everything got private. I have seen cougar tracks, coyotes, fox, ducks, geese, chuckers, huns, antelope, lots of deer, and a few elk in the area. Access is fairly limited now, but I am sure there are still lots of animals in the area.

I work in West Valley as well and its really not uncommon to see deer at almost any time of the day. Some of the biggest bucks I've ever seen have been around 4300 SOuth U-111. THose ATK bucks get HUGE!!! Ive even seen them around the Jordan River between 3500 South and 4100 South. Its kind of nice to see them. When Im at work and its not busy, I head over towards the ATK plant with my binos and check out all the bucks!

there is not only deer in the city. my favorite is the city lions! small dogs and the gangster thugs are good eatin!

M-M,

RFLMAO! That last cat that was down this way actually did get a hold of someones dog. The morning after they caught that cat in the PD parking lot, some lady came in to report her dog missing. SHe lived just around the corner from where the cat was finally caught! :)

Its too bad the cat didnt get ahold of some of our local bangers!

saw some pictures of the cat after the cat was drugged or something and the whole night shift of the WVPD was all lined up like they had tracked it down and taken it with a tag

Why does it always have to be the dogs! You're right Tuff, the bangers are bigger and better eating...when will the cats realize that! I get about 20-30 of em every Saturday night out here at work street racing...it would be a lion buffee!
