Is it just me, or is anyone else who drew a tag, thinking this is a long damn summer? After waiting a couple of years to "get in the game", I'm starting to lose it a little. Obessing here on MM, watching videos, reading books and magazines, hunt shows...

OK, feeling better now, breathing..

Ed

Ed I was wondering if your pose to get a woody over a cow elk? If you are it just isn't workin for me, that's the only tag I drew in NV,but the meat wil be good this winter for sure, too early to get excited about CO yet but it will happen about the middle of Sept...Greg

Greg,
Not sure I would be feeling it for a cow tag either. I'm frothing to chase muleys in Colorado. Could be a good year. First week of September getting a little closer :)

Ed

I'm with you, the wait about kills me every year. Last year I drew a book cliffs tag and a entiat archery tag, this year I drew a oregon wagon tire tag and a entiat tag again and can't stand the wait.

I drew an easter plains tag rifle for colorado and havent hardly thought about since Im going sheep hunting. Im extremely anxious and cant wait. Sometimes a whole 5-10 minutes goes by without thinking of hunting right now. Gary

My wife thinks I have a 2 track mind. One track will drive her nuts until hunting season, and the other track pretty much pesters her year round. Is there such a thing as a year round rut?

Idbb, I think humans are the only species with a year round "Rut". I have been blessed with a couple of good buck tags this year and can hardly stand the wait to go. Luckily one starts in two weeks. I hope to be guiding in Sept. and Oct. just passing the time until my November hunt in CO. Should be a fun year and love the anticipation...Steve

Ditto. My Book Cliffs Buck tag is burning a hole in my pocket. This is the longest summer ever (for me). I'll be out in 2 weeks doing some scouting and learning the area. Wehunt and bobcatbess, thanks for the information you have provided. I tend to use it to tag a wall hanger (hopefully). And if I don't connect, it won't be due to lack of effort. I plan on spending the entire hunt in the Book Cliffs and intend on hunting hard.

Chomping At The Bit,

Good sign Ed. Where are you headed and for how long?? Got the pack a couple of weeks ago, looks good and "so many straps" etc. need a booklet, saying " A goes to C, and B goes to X" etc. LOL

Will get it figured out later.

Brian

Brian,

Headed to Colorado for smokepole muleys. Doing a pack-in hunt for up to ten days so I will put the Eberlestock pack to the test. I've already put 96 miles on it loaded fully doing local hikes, and the pack is awesome.

Good luck in Elko! My daughter drew a junior deer tag in Ely, so I will be there after hitting the Rockies. If the first two hunts go well, then back to the Rubies to help my brother-in-law with a mountain goat.

Ed

Just a general archery deer tag, and my 9 year old boy will be along so I won't be going at it too hard, and I'm still thinking Christmas is 20 days away!
