For those that are interested, I am continuing work on the series of books I am writing about Idaho's hunting history. The first was Idaho's Greatest Mule Deer. Currently, Idaho's Greatest Elk is in "production."

If you have any photos of any big deer or elk taken in Idaho or any good classic Idaho hunting photos from the old days that you would like to share for the books, please feel free to email them to me with a note at [email protected]

Capturing the history is what it is all about, so please send your photos!

Currently in the works:
Idaho's Greatest Elk
Idaho's Greatest Whitetails
Idaho's Greatest Mule Deer 2nd Edition

Any and all photos welcome!

Ernie, thanks for the comments. It's awesome to see some of the pics that come in from time to time.

A guy just sent me one of his grandpa in the 1950's with a great 37-incher.

The next deer book will be incredible. I got a picture of two monsters taken in the 1930's a while back - the small one is probably a 195 typical, the big one is probably 45'-48' (extremely conservative) and has two huge bulbous droptines. Taken in Bear Lake County. Classic.

Ryan,
I think you might have a mistake there, but I'm sure we understand it anyway.
You are refering to the years 1945-1948 aren't you? The way you have it looks to be 45 feet to 48 feet. Should have been '45-'48
Your first book was great and will be waiting for the others when they come out of sale, thanks for a great job of putting them together.

Brian

I think he means 45 to 48 inches.

45'- now that's one big deer! Yeah, I meant 45"-48". If you scale it out based on three or four different measurements, it comes out to 50" but just on general appearance, I don't think he is. I think he is in the mid-40's. You'll love the pic though (once it comes out) :) Gotta love the history.

Ryan,
I will see if the oldtimer who shot the cactus buck (see the antler jam in the shed hunters forum) has any old photos of that buck. Taken 1942 rock creek weiser.

Thanks to those sending pictures. Amazing what a little post will do. Everybody else love all the history and old photos as much as me? Keep having fantasies about being able to jump right into those pictures and take a stroll on the mountain in a time when the big ones were still there. Hope you are all getting excited for another crack at another fall season. Ryan
