been hunting around deer park and warrior peak, seen many forked horns not much else, anyone with some ideas where to look for a bigger buck, if not anyone having any success on bigger bucks, thanks................

No luck for me. I was in those areas a bit and saw one 24-inch buck, that's it. A few small bucks. Maybe some cooler weather will improve things. I know there are some big deer in that country, but they sure are tough to find, atleast for us they are.
My buddy killed a 23-inch 4-point.

My buddy is hunting also(early 39) talked to him sat. and all he has seen is forks, and he has been all over. Trinty mtn area , atlanta, and swanhome... there hard to find this year i guess. I was supposed to draw with him but the other partner got in a hurry to put in and didn't wait for me ... then shot a forky opening day and then went home and left him to hunt by himself .. nice guy ...I,m the one with the trail bikes. You need to get high...is what I know about that hunt... good luck guys atleast you some time to hunt.

My buddy hunted 39 last year and his brother shot a really nice buck....they were up pretty high...I cant remember exactly where they were hunting...I will talk to him and see if he will give me any info.

>Kicker been there 5 times all the way to west warrior and only forked horns, i had heard in years past good bucks there, talked to a guy at the look out he had only seen 1 4pt buck this summer, maybe i will go towards prarie and look around, thanks

I have hunted the area for years I think swanholm is mostly migrating bucks (late oct.) I thnik if I wear to hunt that unit I think closer to the saw tooths and high ( queens) maybe or north of atlanta those deer tend to come from the east and parallel the middle fork. someone mentioned prairie, I know some good bucks come from the northstar area... the back side of trinitys to many people on the west side . good luck guys, jakstr

Man that's crazy. My buddy had that tag last year and hunted swanholm. Saw big bucks everywhere. Missed a hog and took a real nice buck. He took my other friend back there in oct. and he missed a 30"er.

Really surprises me that you haven't been seeing some nicer bucks out that way.

Have you tried the lava mtn area around Prairie???

The only thing I could guess is the burn across the river moved them in there... I'm not saying they aren't in there .. they could be anywhere. We really havent seen them there till deep snow , But there probally a few big boys that are always there. the old timers in my group said there were some big bucks back in the day, this is when they could drive to the lookout (80's) also in november, my guess if your not seeing them in the warrior area then good chance they stayed to the east. that country can be so spoty ,till weather... also there were alot of bucks harvested last year in the early storms of oct. most smaller to med. bucks. I know some locals and they hunt the queens area on horseback...I guess move around they are there somewhere... good luck guys and show us some pictures! ( no more forky stories , we won't to hear you got a big one ) jakstr

Can you guys recommend any really good maps for 39. My group is scheduled to hunt around Atlanta late in year.
