idaho middlefork 27

I dont have any advice, but if you want to chit chat about I'm here. I will be in there 5-10 days in November looking for some bone.

I guided in unit 27 in 1992 and 1993. We killed a giant mule deer my first year there, it was a 10x7 that was 34" wide. PM me and I can give you a few ideas.

I hunted the middlefork several times including, Two trips. Two years ago...my friends have hunted it for many years and say it has really changed dramatically the last 5 years. The big fire moved a lot of the elk and deer out.Animals arnt in the same places they were before...I know fires are suppose to bring game in but it isnt happening in that country. If you get snow, the big pass area Vanity summit held some Elk.But i would head for the country below Seafoam toward the Middle Fork as far as you can go.A lot of wolves in that country now.Saw tracks several times in the snow. They seem to work those burns on Sheep Mt.Area..

Unit 27 holds a grand population of "nice" bucks in that they get to live long enough to mature along with regulations. Few 30+ racks. Hunt high near the snow line. Country is vertical and access is limited to a few roads/trailheads and airstrips. It is a "full on" quality hunt. Nothing like the backcountry in November! I can recommend Middle Fork aviation in Challis for competent and safe pilots. Reasonable prices also. Good Luck
