I'm going to be hunting the Monroe Mountain this year with my wife and one of her friends this year. Unfutunatly I have not been able to get out and look the area over much. The weekend the grouse hunts opens in Septmber will be the second time that I have been down this yearand probably the last before the hunt starts. For those of you that have been bow hunting the area or will be muzzleloading it I was woundering what you have been seeing? It's been about 5 years now sense I last shot a buck, I've made up my mind that this year I am going for venision instead of attlers. If your just seeing some ones thats OK I would like to just get a idea as to the number of bucks that you're seeing.

Thanks

If your just after some meat then you should have a good chance at a buck. I have seen a good number of two points. Have seen a few small three's and four's but not alot. Since the bow hunt has started they are more scattered and you will have to get away from the roads to find them.

There doesn't seem to be as many deer bucks or does as last year, but the fawn crop looks good.

Monroe is going to be a tough hunt for bigger bucks this year. The good hunt last year definately thinned out a bunch of the bigger bucks on the unit. There seems to be a good bunch of fawns though, so there HAS to be a few decent bucks still sneaking around somewhere...
Good luck!!
A bad day hunting is better than a Good Day at Work!!

I would agree with Antler1. Last time I was down I saw a ton of does and a spike and a two point.

If you can get away from the roads you'll have a better chance.

I did a push for my brother and kicked out two o.k. four points but my brother was too busy going to the bathroom to get either one.
