Nevada area 171

I just drew a rifle tag in area 171. I haven't hunted there before and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on a good starting point as of where to hunt. Also are there any monsters in this area. I am used to hunting up in unit 6 and 7 where they have some awesome deer so hopefully this area has some nice deer too.

most of the big deer will be in the arc dome wilderness. i have seen many very respectable bucks in there, along with a few 'monsters'. its steep terrain, and a big area, but if your willing to put in the effort you should have a good hunt. just remember, it is a wilderness area, so it could be a real pain to hike your buck out. if you need any other info, e-mail me @ [email protected]

Thanks for the advice. I we went up there during the first and second weekends of the hunt and I am pretty disappointed in the area. I hunted by Peavine and Ledbetter areas. All we saw was a 2 point, a 24" wide 3 point and about a 25" wide 4 pointer. Those are the only bucks that we saw. We saw alot of doe's but didnt even see a spike or forkhorn running with the doe's. It was very weird. We decided to take last weekend off of hunting and are going out the last couple of days of the season and hopefully the weather will cooperate a little and move the deer around and maybe push them into the rut. I was just wondering if you had any other spots that I might go and look to possibly get a chance at a 30 incher. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated
