LAST EDITED ON Sep-13-05 AT 01:05PM (MST)[p]hey guys,
here are some pictures of the buck I got on august 23, 05. This is a culmination of 3 years of hard hunting that finnaly paid off. This year I decided not to mess around an plan for 5 straight days of hunting my deer and nothing was going to get in the way of it. well a week and a half before the hunt I found out I would be out of town until the day before the hunt for work so I was pretty ticked about that. I got home friday before the hunt at 12:30 and I was on the mountain by 5:00. I had scouted for weeks and knew right where I was going to be opening morning and just new I would get a crack at a great buck. well opening morning came and so did the zoo of hunters. I didn't have anything come by me I couldn't believe it. I had been watching 4 to 9 bucks passing this area every morning. The next 3 days were much the same with very few bucks being seen. on the 4th day of my hunt I was worn out and a little dissapointed and decided I was going to leave that night so I could go home and get ready to take my wife on her first archery hunt. that afternoon I decided to make a push with a friend of mine that just got back on the mountain that afternoon. We made our plan and started up a bowl covered in quakies. As we started up the hill it started to sprinkle on us and I just hoped it didn't turn into a down pour like we had the day before with major lighting storm. I decided to keep going. As I stalked my way up the hill I didn't think I had much of a chance at getting anything since the wind was on my back the whole time. I finnaly made it up to the spot were I was supposed to meet my friend but he hadn't made it there yet. I waited for a minute and decided to head down the hill towards him still hoping to push something to him or sneaking into something myself. All of the sudden not 30 yards off of the top of the hill I catch a flash of 2 sets of antlers and the backend of one of them not 8 yards from were I am standing. I quickly got an arrow out and couldn't belive the bucks were still feeding with no clue I was there. The only problem was I had no cover around me. As I watched the bucks I thought they were going to feed away from me to the right into some thick brush when the biggest one turned around and walked right infront of me. I am glad I didn't have much time to think because this was the biggest buck I have ever been next to. I drew back my bow as he wals walking when he finnaly stopped right in front of me still only 8 yards away. now I had to make a decision, wait at full draw for him to get out of the bushes where he would see me for sure or find another way. I opted for the other way so I put my pin above his eye and let it fly. Before I knew it the buck dropped right out of site and started rolling down the hill. I couldn't believe it I had dropped him in his tracks. As I sat there and watched him I decided to get an arrow in his chest since he was still stirring and got the next one in his heart. I now had the buck of a life time. and it all happened in about 30 seconds. I got ahold of my friend on the radio and found out he decided to wait out the rain storm under some pines at the bottom so he was a little ticked when I got the deer on his side of the hill. so after some pictures and kudos the fun began, I got him boned out and caped and loaded him in my pack for the 3.5 mile hike. I ended up carrying 85 pounds out of the mountain. But man it was worth it. Sorry for the long post but it is to exciting not to tell.

finally some pictures: He green scores around 170 inches with a 23 inch outside spread with tines from 8.5 to 11 inches and a little sticker on one side for an eye gaurd.

My wife and I shot our bucks a week and a half before I got the bull. I was on a roll for only 2 weeks of hunting.
