Well, here's the first 2005 buck. He's not the biggest I've seen this year, but is the third biggest I've seen where I was hunting, and it was time to "get 'er done!"

I'm pretty beat from getting him off of the mountain.

The hunt will be on Vol. 2 of the "Never Enough" series.

I'll give a few more details later. Time to go film some elk hunts!:)

Good luck!

Nice Paul! Was that a archery, rifle, or muzzleloader hunt. In Utah, or out of state? Most of the bucks I have been seeing around here have already rubbed out. Anyhow nice buck and way to start off the year. I plan on filming my wifes hunt so if it turns out, you can use it if you were interested.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-15-05 AT 04:15PM (MST)[p]Thanks guys. More details later:)

WFM, I wish I could make it, but I've already commited to film someone else. Sure would be a great hunt to film!

I'd love to use the footage that you get. Good luck, sounds like there's a few more biggies running around!

Sounds like it'd be a good idea to leave the details for the next DVD:) If all goes as planned only 9 or so more months until it's released.......:)

Hope to add a few for mulies and memories to the collection before the season is over.

Isn't hunting season awesome! Gotta love the cool nights and mornings, the changing colors of the leaves, and the anticipation of what's over the next ridge.....

Me miss? Never-hahahahaha!

Great first of the season, and congratulations on getting a chance to give some advice in Eastman's Hunting Journal (Aug-Sept.)! Getting homesick definitely sucks in the mountains, but staying focussed on killin a BIG-ONE does the trick. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Great looking buck. I really liked your first video. I like the whole do it yourself hunting style. Seemed more personal when I watched it. Looking forward to the next one.

Great buck, Congrats!

No wonder you aren't answering your phone! You're too busy hunting again. I'll forgive you this time. When you get done filming the elk hunts give me a holler.

Great looking buck man. You did good!

Great job Paul , congrats on a fine muley . After those bruisers from 04 , your not allowed any over 180 this year , LOL . Cant wait to hear the hunt and see volume 2....justa waiten for January,,,,NMHUNTNUTT

I was one luck sucker last year-no doubt about it!

I would be happy to shoot one buck over 180 this year. This buck is without a doubt one of the prettiest deer I've ever shot. He's just one of those good looking deer-cape and antlers.

I stripped his velvet off, he had about half of it rubbed along one side anyways, and I've got a few velvet bucks hanging around already. I use to think velvet was the only way to go, but lately I've liked the hardhorned look.

Any suggestions on staining the antlers. I seem to remeber Browtine had a mudbath solution awhile back for sheds. Anyone know how it works on freshly stripped antlers?

I did rub some mud on them, but it didn't seem to take to well. I know that there is some taxidermy stain out there, but I've never seen one done that looks really natural. I had it done to a Wyoming buck a few years ago that I stripped the velvet off. It looks OK, but doesn't look real up close.

I just got back one of last years bucks from the taxidermist. I'll try to get some pics up soon. It turned out awesome!

nice work
love the first video
especially the music
my kids like to watch dad's hunting movie with the
"crazy music!"

Great Buck! I like your mount from wyo last year as well.

Looks like you will be getting some publicity on Christensen outdoors from the show I saw yesterday......don't forget about us little people here on MM over the next few years!

Thanks hunter1975,

1975 was a good year we must both be 30? Sucks to be getting old. I had a goal to shoot a 30" buck before I turned 30 or while I was 30. Only a few more months and tags to get it done:)

I put this in the antelope forum, but thought I'd put it here too. Here's the first of another kind of buck-lots of fun:)

I've been on several antelope hunts, but have never had the opportunity to harvest one myself.

A friend and I spotted this buck way out in the open. Luckily the buck bedded down where we could only see the tops of his horns.

He wasn't the biggest buck we had seen, but I told my friend if he'd allow me to get within 200 yards and we had the video camera running on the tripod I'd take the shot.

After an almost too perfect of a sneak (nothing went wrong so I guess it was perfect) I was within 250 yards and the buck stood up. Not one to pass up an oppurnity like that I put the hammer down. We caught the whole thing on film and the hunt will be in the next "Never Enough Western Big Game" DVD.

He's not a monster, but I'm proud to have him as my first antelope:)

Tell you what, those buggers are pretty spooky after 2 weeks of hunting!!! I think I may turn into an antelope hunter after all:)

Paul,
Way to Go!! Looks like your season is off to a great start.

I hear the 'Browtine' method works awesome for colouring antlers. I've yet to get off my arse and try it yet.
I personally like the pure white look after the velvet is striped. Especially on a European skull. But after seeing MattB's velvet on a Euro, I maybe trying that on my next velvet buck. Looks friggin' cool.

Congrats Prism on a couple of fine animals! Hope you have more continued success! thanks for posting.
