Idaho 73A Deer Population

A few years ago I read about a study looking at fawn survival and predator removal in several southern Idaho untits including 73A. The results of the study looked like predator removal was helping fawns survive better. I wondered how deer populations are currently in that unit?

I have an Idaho deer tag this year and I have been looking at maps and would like to check out area 73A, specifically I have been looking at the Deep Creek Range and wondered if anybody had any information? How are deer populations in that area now (buck to doe ratios, etc.)? How is the hunting? Are there lots of roads and ATV trails (I am looking for areas without too many)? Where is the best access to the public lands? I see the season is open until the 31st. Does the hunting pressure taper off towards the end, or pick up? I would really appreciate any info or ideas as to where I can start my scouting. You can send me an email ([email protected]) or a private message if you don't want to share in public. Thanks.

Daxter the terrain on this unit is different, you either have thick north facing pines or bare hillsides. I usually like to hunt the tops, but the wind blows there a lot. If windy move down to the pines. Per usually too many atv trails, but if you have a buddy you can get dropped off on top and meet hit at the bottom of some of the canyons. Russ PM if you want
