I'm leaving in 5 days for a south-central Wy. mule deer hunt, My first time hunting a deer other than Mn. whitetail. Any last minute advice for a newcomer? I plan to hike in aways to get away from the crowds, get a good vantage point and glass alot. just hoping to shoot a decent buck. Thanks for your time.

If you are new to glassing, you should refer to a thread from a few weeks ago about glassing stratagies and techniques. Keep a positive mental attitude, hunt all day, every day, and NEVER give up untill you have to. Good luck amigo.

If it's really hot & dry they will probably be going to drink at night & be heading back up before the sun comes up. Get to a spot above the water way before it gets light.

Eastmans Hunting Journal had an article about glassing by David Long. You should get it and read it and then read it again. Get out near your home area and try to put some of the glassing advice to use.

Bino's to scan quickly and a good spotting scope to thoroughly inspect and area. Get yourself one of those gardening kneepads too. It makes sitting for hours comfortable.

Good Luck !!
