Best of luck to everyone heading out, I still can't believe I'm done, I wish I could get a second deer tag. Let's hear where everyone is headed(general areas of course) and then lets see some pics when you get back!

Will be out a week in the Okanogan. Dedicating this rifle season to helping my 14yo nephew, bag his first buck. I have not been this jacked in a long time. I am as excited as he is, I think. Will let the forum know.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-09-05 AT 09:04AM (MST)[p]Forecast is for rain Fri, Sat & Sunday. It should be a good opener. With all of the rain that weve had over the past few weeks, a lot of the muzzleloaders stayed at home. I still havent decided whether to go archery (for the 10th year in a row) or modern. It sucks not knowing how work is going to go and not being able to pick a season until the last minute! Oh well.
Knock the guts out of em' boys!!!!!

Western WA

Well I'm heading to Stormking. I've hunted it last year for the first time. Hopefully I will find a buck that I can put the crosshairs on.

Good Luck everyone!

Stormking! From where I'm sitting at my computer I can see stormking if I look over my shoulder. I used to hunt it quite a bit back in the early 90's. It used to have a bunch of deer on it. My brother killed his first buck not far from the top.

I'll probably take the wife down to my buddies property and sneak out through the back 40 to find her a deer. I'm a sliverslinger so I'm waiting for the late season.

Good luck

Well me and a couple buddies are heading to lake chelan and take the boat up until we find a spot that looks promising (all of our first times at lake chelan)and set up camp.Hopefully we can have a few pics to post on tuesday.

Hey Bullcanyon ,

Lucky you as far as the area you live. I'm in the big city "Puyallup". So I've scouted it a twice this year. Didnt see any huge bucks, but it doesnt have to be a monster to make me happy.

See you out there.

Well, my Dad and I are heading down near Walla Walla hunting "Klicker Mountain". It's all private (6000 acres) but Mr. Klicker is my Dad's Partner/Boss so we have permission to hunt it. Going down thursday to scout the general area and the same on Friday.

We'll be roughin it considering we'll be staying in a log cabin that's right on top of the mountain and 10 minutes from most of the spots we'll be hunting.

I'm stoked to say the least!!!
Best of luck to everybody!
And don't worry, we'll have pictures!

I will be heading to Winthrop area this weekend to try and get my son a buck. If we are not successful, he has a youth doe tag to fill.
I will be heading to Chiwawa for the late rifle hunt in early November hoping for a nice one.

I will be heading to winthrop/twisp area for the second week this year. Hoping for some weather that second week and a early rut.

Im heading back to Chesaw...will hunt for myself sat morn and spend the rest of the time helping my dad who drew a special 65 and older tag...More excited for my dad than myself...my hunting starts the next week with branch bulls in Yakima...Ill have time to hunt deer in Montana!

Good luck to everyone. I bought a muzzleloader permit this year and never got out. There is always the late season.. So I'm headed to montana on the 12th to hunt antelope and take pictures of all the mule deer I see.

I'm hiking into the Twisp River tomorrow. They opened stealhead in the Methow, so will try to bag one of those babies first, then hike stage one, camp, stage twothe next day. Rest one day then bag that bad dog. Then eat him because he'll be too far in to pack out. ; )Good luck everyone. Keep those boots dry, it looks like its going to be a wet one.

Will be up the Entiat. Home sweet home as usual but just will be helping my dad and our other buddy. Then helping my good friend the last week. All the while trying not to go insane because i will be hunting come Nov. 1st with my Swakane Late tag. Good luck everyone and be safe. Lets see those pics!!!

Swakane late should be worth the wait though...and its always fun helping others...good luck to all.

Guess I'll have to live vicariously through all you guys again this year when it comes to hunting Washington... hopefully I will be able to make it home to hunt my old stomping grounds around the Loomis area next season... haven't been back for quite a few years... good luck and looking forward to big Washington buck pics...

By the way I was watching Jim Zumbo's hunting show a month or so ago. He was hunting Muley's in the northern okanogan and the lodge he stayed in on Palmer Lake is about 100 yards down the road from my old house... kinda cool to see that on TV.

I saw the Zumbo hunting show but didn't know what part of the Okanogan valley he hunted. I drew the Pogue A permit this year so I was hoping it was close to there. I'll let you guys know how I did when my permit comes due.

Good luck Skinzner, You could get off the boat at Prince Creek but the easier hunt (probably better too) is Moore Point. Hunt up French Creek and around toward Round Lake. Good luck and have fun. We will have five camps packed in plus a camp with guided hunters. All in the Clark and Slide Ridge area (GMU 244 and 146. Our drive too camps are mostly in GMU 147.

OOPS! Skinsner; you won't find French Creek near Moore Point on Lake Chelan. Try FISH CREEK. Sorry about the typo; still thinking archery elk hunting I guess.

Fletch,
Your schedule is like mine. Chesaw for a week, then back to my homies in Big Sky in November. Good luck on the elk permit as well, and too all of you. Keep yur powder dry, and do not forget the paperwork.

Heading back to where I grew up yet have never hunted, Bethel. Mostly an elk area, but there are a few bruisers running around if you know where to look. Plus it's a good opportunity to see if the elk herds are on the move with the "tiny" bit of weather we've had. Was driving past the feed station last week and noticed a couple dozen cows feeding at the far east end. Awful early for that!
Good luck too all.

I just retreated from the high country. About six inches of snow on the ground with more sleet coming down. Three wolves have moved into my area and so have three cats(a female and yearling in one group and a giant Tom by himself). Needless to say, most of my deer are now fertilizer. Time for Plan B.

Where the heck were you bone.....Must've been up in the NE Corner somewhere huh?

Bone- Wolves? and cats? in one spot? There must be(or have been) a ton of deer in there. Did you actually see the wolves? What general area were you in, the pasayten? I'd be mad.

Good luck in the Bethel let me know how it goes, I'm headed somewhere in the that vicnity for the elk season, in a few weeks.

YAHOOOO!!!
We leave in the morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm getting so psyched for this year!

I was up in the Twisp River. Thats the second time I've ran into them up there. There is a documented family group that lives up Libby Creek. I have seen one of them once on the winter range when I was shed hunting. There were kills all over and all that was eatin' were the soft organs. I actually watched him/her bring down a HEALTHY deer. If I would have been packing... There was a family group that I saw the two with pups in another Twisp River location several years ago. This was across the river and quite a long ways away. I was surprised of these. This group I heard them at daybreak and knew instantly what they were. They were on top of the mountain. I watched a nice four and three does, and they were acting quite strange, then they sounded off. On my way up, I saw scat from fresh to this summers. I got up to about 6 inches of snow on top of the ridge. I found a huge buck track and shortly afterword picked up the big Tom following the buck. They were going where I was to get off of the mountain in a slide chute, when I came into three sets of wolf tracks fresh from the morning. They followed the cat whcich was folling the big buck which was being followed by me. I didn't get to see any of them. : ( Never go down a vertical slide chute with six inches of wet snow on frozen ground though. Take the long way back.
There is normally tons of deer where I was at. There was very little sign this time. I'm sure most moved out. I know I jinxed myself when I was making fun of Idaho losing all of their game to wolves and Wyoming also last week.
