LAST EDITED ON Oct-08-05 AT 11:08PM (MST)[p] My wife finally let me take my kids out of school for an entire week since my two sons, DJ(14) and Hunter(13) had each drawn youth tags for X7B. We spent ALOT of time over the summer scouting and had located some really tremendous bucks (a 185" 4x7 and a 160" 4x4 in particular) so needless to say we were pumped for opening day!
One half hour into opening morning Hunter had a 4x4 almost run him over and made a nice 40 yard head-on neck shot that dropped the buck in his tracks! Later that evening DJ put a stock on a 3x3 and made a nice 80 yard quartering away shot...no blood but he only went about 50 yards before piling up.
So here we are one week to hunt - and we are tagged out on opening day - a little disappointed but also proud and excited to see my two boys kill their first bucks! I had to remind myself that this was their hunt for their first deer so holding out for a monster would have to be their call - their only restriction was NO FORKED HORNS!
All in all a great trip...one I know I or my sons will never forget!

Congrats to your two sons on their first hunt and what a way to start off, first day success. Guess they can go back to school now huh! But they probably want to stay out and enjoy the "vacation".
Great pictures and hope they have many , many more down the road.

You must be a proud father! That's a trip your sons will never forget. Is that a "cheater" on Hunter's buck?
