Here are some pics of my friend Tony's buck. He was nice enough to invite Gary and I along for the hunt, beings how we didn't draw any tags. We found this buck the night before the opener and were able to put him to bed. The next morning we were suprised by a blizzard like storm on the top of the mountain that had us fogged in for a while. Once the fog lifted were able to find the buck and put a sneak on him. Tony made an awesome 400 yard shot and dropped the buck in his tracks. We were able to pack him out and get back to the truck before noon on the first day of the hunt.

The buck is 27" wide and should score in the 170's.

'tony done good'...tell him congratulations on a fine critter, and thank you for the story...sounds like you guys had fun..

Mighty fine buck there, congrats. Next best thing to having a tag is being part of another hunt with somebody who takes a nice one.

I've got buck fever just looking at him. Major congrats to Tony and thanks for sharing the pictures and story.

What a great looking buck. I would have guessed him bigger than 170, but then gain I am learning that i suck at scoring stuff. He'll make a great looking mount. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

That is one handsome buck. Very symetrical, well balanced fronts and backs, well balanced height and width. I would love to have a buck like that. So many big deer have one dimension that overpowers the others, but not that one. Congrats to your bud.

Thanks for all the good comments guys. Tony is super happy with the buck, as am I for being able to help him with the hunt. I put a quick tape on the buck when we got back to camp that day, pulling a tight tape and being conservative I figured him to be in the 170s...I think the lack of good G2s will keep him from the 180 mark.
