Does anyone in here have a Tag in the Southeastern area for Utah and had a chance to do any scouting. I have been so busy this fall I haven't even gotten out to look for deer. I am in Manti and plan on hunting that area and hoping for some helpful information.

If I could help you out I would. I'm in the same position you are. We hunted above Ephraim last year and saw some small bucks - I passed on a nice (body size) 2 pt. We'll probably be in same general area this year, but it would be nice to have some better info for the area. I know asking is kinda taboo but I'd love to see any one of my brothers get their first deer after hunting for years.

BTW - I was in Manti on Saturday. We store our boat down there at Doug Dyreng's storage unit/chicken coop. GOOD LUCK.

where up ephraim where you? I am planning on just riding my 4 wheeler out from Manti in themorning and probably on monday if I don't get one, I am really just looking for anything with horns for meat in the freezer.

I've hunted that last 7 years down there. I spent all of August and September chaising my ONCE in A LIFE TIME ANY BULL TAG... I saw several nice bucks. Some general areas to look would be one canyon NORTH of Birch Creek. I have hunted there mist of the time. I have seen some dandy bucks there. This is just off the South Skyline dirt road on the west side. Also try Birch Creek, during the hunt there were several small 4 points and several small bucks there also.

I wish ya luck. I would normally by right there opening morning, but my wife is not letting me out much for the deer hunt, since I was out 3 weeks for the archery elk hunt.

GOOD LUCK!!!

When your refering to Birch Creek I hate to get to specific, but I am not sure if it's the same one your thinking of. Are you familar with the Harmon Trail? If not send me an email to [email protected] so I can ask a couple of specific questions.

Birch Creek is a GREAT spot to hunt, but it has steep areas, and you will definitey have to hike a lot. I have seen some dandy's in there while hunting elk. If you can get near the bottom of the Canyon early, the other hunters in the area will push the backs out of the canyon and towards the bottom of the canyon that funnells into the valley below. Also, there is a small creek at the bottom of the canyon, I have seen many bucks watering in the creek early in the morning and in the late afternoon.

Hope this helps a little.

I am heading to the nine mile area for the full 5 days. Havent been down yet this year, but my friends that bow hunt Elk there have seen some whoppers. Between me and BIG OL MULEY (jason) we have killed 5 bucks in 5 years grossing over 800". I am even more excited for this year because of all the moisture and good horn growth. And a new rifle is pretty fun too, especially when its the one youve been drooling over for like ever. Ill be sure and post pics of my 190" buck when I get back (or 160" whichever comes first) haha

Call me stupid :) but I guess I am just not sure where Birch Creek is. I know of a Birch Creek (or at least my family has always called it that) but I do not know if it is in the same area. If you would like to email me with a little more detailed info I would greatly appreciate it. my address is [email protected]

Gotta say thank you - and appreciate the info. I think we are heading down (from SLC) to do a little scouting this weekend. The info may go a long way to helping some of my younger brothers to even get a shot. I'd love to see any one of them get their first deer.

Good Luck to everyone.
