I'm sure that the Kaibab got a dusting. In years past, even a light snow gets the does, fawns and little bucks heading down the mountain.
Last year, they got BIG SNOW and the deer were all out on the winter range. That was a real plus for the folks on the early hunt.
IF the deer are still on top, then the hunt strategy changes big time..Hunting deer in the oaks and acacia is a heck of a lot different than hunting them in the burns on the winter range.
If you've got one of those 1,000 early tags, better pray for real SNOW if you're looking for a real buck! Otherwise, those yearling and two-year-old spikes, forkies and little three points will be taking an awful beating!
Good luck!
