Hi i have a archery permit for the quilomene unit and was wondering if anybody could give me some information about this unit. Is there any nice deer there? Anything will help

Lots of country and deer. You will enjoy it. Total spot and stalk hunting. Have a better than average spotting scope with you and use it!! Huge sagebrush and hidden draws and bluffs that hold deer. Hope for snow, it would help. There are some very nice deer in this area. Have never hunted myself, but have hiked extensively in this area and you should have a good time. I cannot tell you where to start, but off of Parke Creek Road is a good jump-off point. Get a good DNR map and you should be good to go. What are the dates of the hunt?

Lots of private land near parke creek be careful up there. The people that live up there are a little different to say the least. You may want to avoid that area I have heard stories of some suspicious things in Parke canyon. It is a cool area with lots of deer. THere are some bruisers down by the columbia too if you have a boat

Do have a 20' jet sled and probability of being drawn here next year. Could you pinpoint closest launch and what are camping restriction if any in Quilomene? -Dman

Vantage is a good put in spot for going up river, a really nice launch.

Thanks bone, is that what appears to be a launch from I-90 (same one)? Any idea by water approx. how far it would be to Quilomene? I would guess 8-10mi., or so. I think Schaake Wildlife area is part of Quilomene unit too?

Taking off upriver from Vantage you're already in the Quilomene GMU, well right on the eastern boundary. To be legal to hunt you'd just have to be sure to get north of the Ginkgo State Park, which wouldn't be that far, maybe a mile or so.

Sorry, I meant to the wildlife area itself, so if the GMU starts down near Schaake WA, then you're right it would only be a couple miles.

ITs not far, and this time of year the columbia is fairly calm. Summer months it can rock and roll.

You will see a ton of deer. Access could be by road but the roads are very rough. During the rut we had a little 3x3 spot us from 400 yards and came to investigate. Finally spooked at 20 yards when the hunter stood up. If you can't sneak to them try letting their curiousity help you out. You will have fun. the WDFW has Green Dots maps if you plan to drive in.

HUNT FROM THE SOUTH SIDE OF UNIT, GAIN ELEVATION,GLASS,MOVE HORSEBACK, THE ONLY WAY TO LOCATE THE BRUISERS

Thanks Bull! When I get drawn in 15-20 more years I'll give it a try...
